A white supremacist who said he was inspired by Jihadi John has been found guilty of trying to kill an Asian dentist with a machete and a hammer in front of shoppers in a Tesco store.
Zack Davies, 26, shouted 'White Power' and 'I did it for Lee Rigby' as he targeted his 24-year-old victim, Dr Sarandev Bhambra, at the supermarket in Mold, North Wales, on January 14.
Davies, from Mold, was said to have caused Dr Bhambra 'very severe' injuries to the left hand, his back and head which were described as life-changing.
The incident happened while the dentist was shopping at the store during his lunch break, Mold Crown Court heard.
Witnesses reported seeing a white man chasing an Asian man through the store with a knife and hammer.
Davies was only stopped when a member of the public, former serviceman Peter Fuller, stepped in.
He was said to have been obsessed with Nazi ideology, with various associated literature found in a later police search of his home.
Posters relating to the 2013 murder of Fusilier Rigby by two Islamic extremists were also discovered.
Giving evidence, Davies said he was 'fascinated' by Jihadi John, who he saw as an 'inspiration' and even had a mask of him.
The jury took just three hours and 40 minutes to decide he was guilty of attempted murder to cheers and applause from the pubic gallery. Davies showed no emotion as the verdict was read out.
He had admitted wounding with intent but denied attempted murder and he was sent to a high security hospital for psychiatric reports to be prepared before he is sentenced on September 11.
Judge Rhys Rowlands said: 'I hold the view he is an incredibly dangerous young man. If it is not going to be a hospital order it will be the longest possible sentence.
'Dr Bhamdra sustained the most dreadful life-changing injuries during a sustained racist attack on an innocent man, a member of a caring profession here in Mold carryng out work for the benefit of the community, who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.'
He also said many in the store and the emergency services had acted with courage that day but he singled out the actions of Mr Fuller for his 'quite astounding courage' and said he was considering how it should be best recognised.
He added: 'If it had not been for Peter Fuller there is every chance that Dr Bhandra would not be with us today, he would have been killed by this man. Mr Fuller’s courage is truly exceptional.

Geography is fate in determining which uniform you might wear in war time. Most people would not celebrate killing someone on the other side who is just trying to do the same as you are trying to do to them. Provided there are certain boundaries of what is in most cases legitimate.
People joining a so called army to rape, torture and persecute innocent people are different and when you celebrate their deaths your celebrating justice and also the fact they wont be alive to commit any more heinous acts.

Iamgine your whole family might have been raped, tortured and then pleasure taken in their slow and painful killings by some of this lot. If it was me at the receiving end of that fate in life I would want extreme punishment for those responsible which would involve taking them away and out of sight doing to them the things they would least want to happen to them before they met their maker. That might sound harsh but when the people responsible for some of these actions in Syria and Iraq are found and captured they should be handed over to the people whose families of their victims and anything they chose to do with them would be fine with me. This is not a war they are fighting.
I think the family have a point. This idiot, when he couldn't find his principal target, went after the guy for the sole reason that he was of a different colour. He had been influenced by what he had seen on the internet.
