Plod making a name for themselves..
Report The Leopard June 24, 2015 12:40 PM BST
Protesters have attempted to enter the House of Commons chamber during Prime Minister's Questions.

The group, campaigning about changes to disability benefits, were prevented from getting in by police, BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith said.

The doors were closed quickly as activists were wheeled(surged substituted for accuracy)  towards them, he added.
Prime Minister's Questions continued inside the chamber.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 12:47 PM BST
What do these cretins not get about democracy?
No doubt spraying graffiti wherever they go.
No worries though as none of them pay tax so us mugs are left to pick up the bill.
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 12:58 PM BST
Try wheeling a mile in their wheelchairs before you pass judgement aka
Report akabula June 24, 2015 1:23 PM BST
I'm not talking about those in wheelchairs.
I'm talking about these activists we've seen over the past few days latching themselves onto every 'cause' going.
Operating under a Tories Out banner. What about the democratic process don't they get.
Report ebulGery June 24, 2015 1:42 PM BST
akabula
Just because the Tories won the election, does not remove the right of protest to perceived injustices
What is it about this process you don't get
Report akabula June 24, 2015 1:50 PM BST
Well for a start I don't understand why they need to deface WW2 monuments. Can you explain that?
I don't see the need for trying to enter parliament unlawfully. Can you explain that?
I don't see the need for attacking the police. Can you explain that?
Protest should be peaceful and lawful. Don't you agree?
Report ebulGery June 24, 2015 1:57 PM BST
I will concede that Akabula..but I still believe in the right of protest
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:03 PM BST
Not disagreeing with you but as I said it must be peaceful and lawful.
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:04 PM BST
I never seen/heard any news today. Were the protests really as Akabula describes.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:05 PM BST
I wasn't just talking about todays protest.
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:12 PM BST
My mistake. As I say I don't know what happened but surely its unfair to criticise one specific protest about a specific issue and group it with other protests about different issues some of which included attacks on police and defacement of ww2 monuments which those protesting today might not have supported or took part in.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:18 PM BST
The same anarchists/activists were behind both.
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:22 PM BST
Also despite having a democratic elected government majority that  does not preclude the fact that a peaceful protest by a large number of people even if they were in a minority can stop some things the government at the time wish to and can do.
Some of the conservative welfare measures will not be passed in n.ireland for example.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:26 PM BST
Not sure what that has to do with the points I was making.
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:29 PM BST
I never saw the protest but I don't see anything wrong with protests and sometimes even the ones you describe which apparently did not happen anyway.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:33 PM BST
Well if you watched the news you would see that everything I described happened but still, you say you would condone that.
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:35 PM BST
I will report back later when I see the news of what actually happened.
Report Facts June 24, 2015 2:36 PM BST
The majority of people who cast their vote, did so against the Tories.

The more  cuts and sanctions that this Government imposes on the less fortunate in society, the greater the likely hood of protests. And quite right too.
Report MisterBadger June 24, 2015 2:40 PM BST
The same anarchists/activists were behind both.

what evidence do you have for that?
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:44 PM BST
I'll leave you lefties to seethe. Cool
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 2:48 PM BST
Facts is indeed correct.

akabula seems to be generalising about who these protesters are. He has them all down as vandals because one or some participated in graffiti.

It`s best not to generalise but those on the right seem to do that to silence the debate.
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 2:49 PM BST
akabula we will leave you to bathe in ignorance.Cool
Report paddletoe June 24, 2015 2:52 PM BST
At least the disabled protestors weren't baton charged.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 2:56 PM BST
@AG the point I was making was that these protests always get hijacked by the same activists.
I have never attacked the actual protests. Maybe if people took the time to read rather than jump to conclusions half way through peoplers posts.
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 2:59 PM BST
You need to make yourself clearer aka, but far enough that you agree in the protest but not the troublesome activists.

Lets not forget that many of these protests get infiltrated to deliberately send the protest off line and into anarchy.

I don't think that could be any clearer.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 3:06 PM BST
People are entitled to protest but the way some of these protests go ends up costing a fortune to the taxpayer.
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 3:08 PM BST
A bit like the £150m repairs to Buckingham Palace
Report akabula June 24, 2015 3:10 PM BST
A bit like? Not sure I get the connection.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 3:10 PM BST
Or was it just an attempt at point scoring?
Report Eeternaloptimist June 24, 2015 3:24 PM BST
Whenever anybody on the left seeks to deflect the issue it always seems to come back to the bankers or the royals. It reveals either a weak argument or poor debater.
Report Eeternaloptimist June 24, 2015 3:29 PM BST
But on the issue in question one of the prime things which separate a society like ours from totalitarian regimes like fascism and communism is our willingness to take care of the most vulnerable. I do worry with people like Duncan Smith about their willingness to hijack language so that he means the exact opposite of what he says. It was especially noticeable when he said that they weren't ruling out cutting benefits for the disabled but whatever they did they would be kind.

Who in all seriousness would class cuts as being kind?
Report jamesdean June 24, 2015 3:42 PM BST
Similarly, when anyone from the right seeks to deflect the issue it always seems to come back to people on benefits or benefit cheats.
Thus ignoring the massive difference in the amounts the rich manage to cheat/avoid and how much the unemployed or sick manage to claim.
Report akabula June 24, 2015 3:51 PM BST
The problem isn't just restricted to benefit cheats and rich tax dodgers although both are to be condemned.
We have issues at every level that all hit on the public purse. Whether it be criminality, the black market or lazy workers even.
So you can't excuse one because of the other and need an approach that tackles all and ignores none.
Report jamesdean June 24, 2015 3:53 PM BST
I don't think anyone is saying any different.
Report Geesyerdosh June 24, 2015 5:48 PM BST
I don't think Duncan Smith has much regard for the vulnerable. Having police officers point machine guns in the House of Commons at people in wheelchairs and mentally ill people with their carers who had been security checked and x-rayed doesn't sound like a person with much empathy.

The disability groups have continuously shown him up (he's been to court literally dozens of times to stop information getting out) for the out of depth fool he is but have got nowhere.

They're probably that desperate now for people to listen they'll try anything.
Report Angel Gabrial June 24, 2015 5:55 PM BST

I think that you nailed it JD.
Report Eeternaloptimist June 24, 2015 6:28 PM BST
People on the right don't generally have the need to deflect seeing as they are usually correct. Wink
Report MisterBadger June 24, 2015 9:42 PM BST

I think that's right, they have got nowhere at all with reasoned arguments, so sooner or later they will resort to direct action as the only option to get their voice heard... it's a familiar pattern throughout history
