I am a music snob, I freely admit it.

I fought the punk wars to rid the world of Yes and Emerson Lake and Palmer and got the living **** kicked out of me when trying it on as a 'Weekend Punk' (I went to Grammar School so had to behave properly Monday to Friday) in the local café where I lived in Smalltown England.

I tell you this and in the next breath confess my 'love which not dare speak it's name' for the 'Poodle Rock' ballad.

The kind of REO / Journey / Foreigner so-overproduced-and-smooth-it-falls-off-the-turntable stuff that right minded folks just go 'Ugh!' and kick their hi-fi in rather than listen to another note.

'When I see You Smile' by Bad English and 'When Love and Hate Collide' by Def Leppard are my darkest secrets.

Stick either of these on then give me a stick of celery for a microphone, one foot up on the monitor (setee), a hair dryer blowing my tousled locks back for that authentic 'flinty eyed rock n' roll vagabond standing on the edge of the icy abyss' vibe and I could rock the world, if only the talent spotters for 'The Voice' would recognise it!

Class roger, we all have moments like that but i cannot sing at all. I want to be able but i sound like a bee with a muzzle.

But a song that I was embarrassed to like = Nolan Sisters, 'I'm in the mood for dancing'

I'm not embarrassed by anything I like and nowt wrong with I'm in the Mood .............
Stood the test of time and still gets everyone up to dance whenever played.
Bit dangerous though when it's on the car radio and you're hurtling down the motorway.

Nothing to be embarrassed about but I like Grace Kelly by Mika
I also like the soundtrack music from Muriels wedding but only when watching the film.
Generally if i get a little tipsy i put on 60's songs on youtube and also things like the clash, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. By the end of the night i might even put on the Broad Black Brimmer.
