"Cadbury's National Hand Writing & Art Competition"... age about nine, I won second prize.
A box of chocolates and two packs of chocolate fingers!
Pathetic, but now being more cynical, I can't help but think the staff pigged out on the rest!
Mid 80s I won a "Sony Discman" (can't remember what the comp was).
Very much later, all from the same company I won....
A three day stay at "New Hall", Warmley, which was fabulous. The week before, Pavaroti was there with his entourage,
on the ground floor, as the stairs were too much for him (allegedly).
A long weekend on the Isle of White. Didn't go on it as didn't want my wife to suffer from the "pain in the @rse" sales director.
Gave it to someone else, but the punchline is that said director didn't go either"
For days in Rimini for the "San Marino Grand Prix".
Two "Ghetto Blasters"
Four massive Xmas hampers
Three of those big presentation cheques
Think that's it, aside from a couple on the Premium Bonds, but they don't really count.

We once won £1650 on the Pools thanks to a Pools prediction program on a ZX Spectrum.
You had to manually update every result each week and it would spit out the best 10 games likely for a draw. I done this for several weeks but it became very tedious, after a few weeks I just gave up. My Dad, who done the pools every week kept doing the last set of numbers and hey presto! they came up one week I once can third in a talent contest in the Isle of Man as a child. The winner was a sword dancer, 2nd was a trumpet player and I got 10p for coming third singing a song...... There was only the 3 of us that took part in the contest. I gave up wanting to be a singing star after that. |

one of my best" wins" was for a short time in the early 80s I was skint and out of work, and it was coming up to xmas and it was looking bleak money wise ! there was a petrol garage which like many of todays garages also sold groceries and newspapers tobacco etc near my block of flat(I lived in a tower block in those days ) who were running a competition where they gave you a scratch type card with every purchase and it had a xmas theme i.e scratch out 3 mince pies and win a pack of mince pies ,scratch and reveal 3 bottles and win a bottle of cheap champers etc and the top prize for scratching and revealing 3 hampers was an expensive hamper and they had a harrods hamper on display stuffed full of top class grub, wine and champers about £500 quids worth a lot of dough in those days for me anyway ,anyway chrimbo was getting near and I was getting desperate! had a few of the cards which were losers most had 2 of each symbols on, 2 mince pies 2 hampers etc, as I was looking at the cards I got thinking and carefully cut out with a Stanley blade a hamper symbol from one of the cards then carefully cut out a a space on a card with 2 hampers and glued it in with some prit stick type glue ,after a few attempts I got a card that looked near perfect and called my brother and showed it to him without telling him I had doctored it ,to gauge his reaction, he was convinced it was a winner ,he couldn't see anything dodgy with the card and I told him what I had done with the card . so I went to the garage and their were 2 youngish birds behind the counter, perfect, so I bought a packet of sweets and a newspaper and asked for a scratchcard which was given to me! the 2 birds were typical young birds talking and not paying much attention so I made to walk to the door and switched the cards for the dodgy one as I got near the door I said loudly oh I have won! and walked back towards the counter ,one of the birds was already reaching for a pack of mince pies as I handed the card over! no I said I have got 3 hampers I have won the hamper ,the bird looked at the card and showed it to her mate who said yeah 3 hampers I knew I had to act fast as they would scratch off the code number at the top of the card that reveals the real prize so I picked up the hamper said thanks girls have a nice christmass and shot off out the door sharpish! as I got about 2oo yards away I looked round and saw one of the birds coming out of the garage and shouting out to me to come back ! yeah right ! I was off on my toes with the hamper into my block of flats shot up the stairs and away with the bird many lengths behind got into my flat looked out of the window and saw the bird had given up and was walking back to the garage,i sold the wine and champers and had the grub for xmass happy days

I've never won anything really worth shouting about but three old mates/people I used to drink with have had some nice wins.
1. He won £45k covering his Scoop6 selections with a 20p e/w lucky63. 2. Won about £230k in a poker tournament at From Dusk Til Dawn. 3. Brought a raffle ticket at the airport for £20 and won an Aston Martin, which he sold for around £70k. |

A years subsciption to Odds On magazine. When I worked for a local newspaper we ran a competition with a prize of a weekend in Paris; only two people entered and one of those had won the previous competition. |

One of my first memories is winning a painting competition aged 5, I painted the Titanic sinking and won a £2 WH Smiths voucher which I bought Mr. men books with, as you do.
That aside won many rugby tournaments, 15's and 7's and various other sporting stuff. |

Bugger kenny....I know I also got a certificate but don't recall seeing it much after the day.
My painting was pretty impressive, or so I thought at the time. It was a copy of part of a painting of "Our Lord Jesus", (RIP) after being taken down from the cross, and complete with the wound in his side. |

A certificate of supreme merit in a sunday express story-writing competition when I was about 10 - they sent a letter with basically saying that they were only paying out on three places but if it had been four I would have been in the money
Loads of raffle prizes but nothing of any great value, think the best was a 16 year old bottle of single malt Managed to pick West Tip out of the national sweep at our local snooker club - I had already backed it ante post but I could see his name on the ticket in the jar, thank you very much Quite a few nice ante post touches, but not enough to cover the losers  |

I can't find the certificate, Aunty. Thought it would be with my GCE certificates (all 2 of them) and the commendation I received for doing a 30 mile walk for the old people of Bradford in 1966, of which I'm now one. Sure it's there. Will have a search later. Could do with a good un-vluttering.

Top prize was a car, a Peugeot 205. That was back in 2001.
Had a call from the studio a week later asking if we would like the car or cash equivalent. Of course we took the cash, £5,600 iirc. There's no footage on youtube, nut it comes round regularly on challenge tv, as people remind me constantly! Surprising how many people still watch the show. |

Well there are a few I would have liked but never made it, In It To Win It with Dale Winton but had two auditions over the last 10 years & did ok but obviously not what they are looking for, I always wanted to get on a show Bob Monkhouse compared alas that will never happen, possibly Perfection that is on at the mo but filled out an application form over a year ago but never heard anything, now its been two years since I have done one I may stand a better chance as they seem to hate anyone doing one within a year, years back that was never the case.

I joined the brentford fc sports & social club because my mate was in it and he won a trip to newmarket - he took me along as his missis wasn't interested, anyway kevin lock was the reserve team coach at that time and he was also on the day out. we got talking and I ended up joining up and then for the next three years I ended up winning prizes in their christmas raffle, two hampers and another day at newmarket... in the end I packed it in as it was getting a bit embarrassing also won tickets to glorious goodwood on the dominik diamond show on radio 5, I drew 2-2 with my opponent, the tiebreaker was name a year during the career of legendary jockey frank buckle. I pissed it... |
