A Turner prize nominated artist, Roger Hiorns, is collaborating with Birmingham's City Ikon Gallery.

He hopes to secure a £250,000 sponsorship...

The project would see the aircraft buried at Icknield Port Loop.

Ikon said it would be 'one of the most ambitious works of art made in this country in recent years' and would 'capture popular imagination'

Oh yeh.. a hole.... with a plane in it.

So much more artistic than Tracey Emin's unmade bed, or a dissected cow in formaldehyde.

If he wants be that 'ambitious' tell him to dig the facking hole with a shovel Laugh not a JCB.

Art??

FFS!!

Think the issue is not so much how you see art but the fact that the pilot would also be associated in long term memory by this called artistic statement in a way which might make it more likely another incident like this could happen. Surely this partly happened because the pilot thought he lived an insignificant life and now he would be remembered which would be wrong.

A large hole in the ground would actually improve the area, no real need for the scrap aeroplane but don't see why not.
