I was asked by Harrogate District Council to carry out a survey of one of their properties.Woman, early twenties, with two kids that I didn't see.
Went into the front room, and there was the most enormous pile of everything you could imagine, covering most of the floor. Outside of that, all the furniture was also covered, so nowhere to sit or even put my case down. There were ten years of dust covering the rest of the floor. She said she was just having a clear out and I asked if I could make a base in the other room. That was just the same! I fail to imagine how anyone could accumulate so much stuff and I told her I would report to the council, as I couldn't do what I came for. I had left my case just where I came in, and hadn't noticed two glass tanks! I asked what was in them and she said "you would be scared shitless if you knew"! A snake and a bird eating spider!!! I asked where they were and she said "somewhere in that lot"! |

do you reckon they hidden under the pile of rubbish? |

Could well have been, which would help to explain why the pile was so big.
I couldn't wait to get out, so didn't see upstairs, or the kitchen, which I am presuming were equally bad. What was hard to grasp, is that a neighbour told me that others knew about it! Just the thought of those kids living in that was very upsetting! Obviously I put in a report, so just hoping the council sorted it out. |
