You can pretend to not pay it - but you know you have to.... they can eventually call in the police to enter your premises and do searches for tv equipment. My brother who has no tv.. never has had one in his flat is constantly pestered by their teams. He's notified them several times but they cannot image someone living without the BBC.

people say its only 40p a day or similar? but my electricity is only 90p a day. my gas is only 50p a day. They all add up over the year. It's a forced charge. Make it a subscription fee. Make it £180 a year. thats 50p a day.

They have to send you a search warrant before they can enter. So basically you can wait for that minuscule possibility and decided what to do then.

I don't know why they don't include it in the council tax if it's SO vital that we have the BBC. Everyone who has a TV or TV receiving equipment (i.e Internet/ Mobile Phone) is supposed to pay it.
