Hasn't got much publicity thanks to the bloody election.  I remember the 50th Anniversary was a massive thing - bank holiday and everything.

Sounds like a good gig at the Ginger Goose, Bradford where I go often.

70th ve day anniversary on sun 10th may 2015

This year is the 70th Anniversary of VE DAY. Starting the day off with a tribute to the forces sweetheart Vera Lynn and the many songs that formed the soundtrack to the 2nd world war and encompass the atmosphere and camaraderie of Great Britain during this period in history.

The second half of the program will include fantastic performances of songs covered by a male vocalist and accomplished musician who will take us on a journey covering popular tunes of the era, songs that inspired a nation.

The finale will be extraordinary as we have a swing band who will be playing the fabulous big swing band numbers that rang out in all the dance halls and village halls during the war plus a few up to date tunes performed in that big swing style. it's going to be a great day!

There's a pub in Aberdeen town centre (Union St I think) that plays swing every night.
Well it has every time I've been in. Like travelling back to the 70s with the décor though.
Not a fashion statement btw just never been touched since the 70s. Laugh
