As a man who has devised an escape from the jobcentre mindgames I can now reveal to you poor slobs the true function of the jobcentre.
MINDGAMES - find a job or get tortured - 90 percent of all jobcentre applicants will be sanctioned.
they never offer you a job at your friendly advisors meetings.
Rather they ask what you the 'client' have been doing to find work.
the client can say 'nothing' and get sanctioned or make up a load of bull.
The only place you might find work is if you know someone who can get you
into a job or sign up to a job agency for minimum wages. I did this and got away
from the psycho advisors.
the job point vacancies are pretty stupid. Taking in jobs from the further reaches of the UK. Maybe a handful of local jobs to cover 100,000 local unemployed.
solution - Close down the jobcentres. Put the machines in a alcove somewhere and have a security guard/maintenance man look after them. Put everything else online. sack the staff or shift them online. Stop all the mindgames. with the money saved fund training for electricians and plumbers or some other necessary occupation.
bottom line. They are obsessed with managing failure. Time to invest in the future and the resources that they are throwing in the bin. invest in people instead of poking them with sticks.

 not every job is advertised at the job centre. theres this thing called the internet, so no excuse for not finding a job. Unfortunately not everyone can be a hedge fund manager and if you have no skills you will be working for a low wage. Had hundreds of applications for job vacancies where I work. Job seekers complain they send hundreds of letters out and never get an interview. If your CV has spelling errors and completely irrelevant to the job advertised you wont get a call. Not rocket science |

does anyone really believe that jobs are giving on the back of so called cv,s to die for,who,s going to right themselves out a cv which shows them in a poor light,employers bin 95% of them without looking at them,95% of jobs have someones name on them before a cv is read,cv,s interviews etc are just flannel to cover the company in case a disgruntled applicant crys foul

CVs are largely unimportant. most of them use the same phrases copied and pasted from a career website.

hardly suprising when the same companys that train job seekers to fill out cv,s and pass interview,train employees how to read cv,s and what questions to ask at interviews,
its all basic stuff these days as regards cv,s 1 page,2 at most you,ve 5 seconds to catch the employee,s eye your main assets bullet pointed 8 inches from top of the page[ ie employees eyeline ] you run a scouts ,footie,sports club etc team player problem solver everyone knows the drill your not getting ahead of the field with well written cv |

This happens a lot, even with jobs (maybe especially with jobs) that are advertised internally in large companies. |

It can be. If it takes six weeks or even months to get "headcount" or "backfill" approved, then by the time the vacancy is ready to be advertised, someone is already doing the job.

OP is right that for the unemployed, the best way to get a job is to know someone who can get you a job.

I've conducted hundreds of interviews but rarely used job centres.
If you use their facilities you are duty bound to interview whoever they forward so I much preferred to advertise in the press and interview in hotels. Doing it that way I would sift the application forms and make a short list for interviews. As regards the CVs much of a sameness about them due to job clubs and etc but easy to sort the wheat from the chaff by simply asking for solutions to imaginary problems. |

Most spellingandgrammarchecker`s are Ex Teachers on Forum websites,
There is a Government Building near me that has had One office, which for the past 40 Years, is Specifically trying to catch the 5% of Teachers that have Sex or Interference with the Under 16`s. ---------------------------------- I have Never met a Teacher yet that admits to Being in the Wrong, If they joined up with Taxi Drivers, this country would be sorted in a Month. |
