Canned laughter is dire. But then so was Father Ted.
By:
I agree with you about the canned laughter and I'll take the critique of Father Ted as a ringing endorsement, given that your taste is fu cking terrible.
By:
Father Ted sadly missed. Not surprised Facts didn't like it. Father Dougal was probably too much like him.
By:
People who don't like Father Ted are mentally defective and should not only be allowed the vote, they should be sent to Rugged Island to be educated by Sister Assumpta!
Facts is probably one of those graudianistas who thinks Father Ted is Anti Irish racism, and wrings his hands about offensive it is... |
By:
not ony not be allowed the vote. That reads like a double negative, but I can not assure you it is not a double not.

Dougal struggles to remember his prayers.)Father Dougal: Our Father, who art in heaven...Father Ted: (sternly) Hallowed.Father Dougal: Hallowed be thy..Father Ted: Name!Father Dougal: Papa don't preach...Father Ted: Dougal, you know you can praise God in other ways.Father Dougal: Oh yeah, like that time you told me I could praise him just by leaving the room.Father Ted: Yes, that was a good one all right.

Father Dougal: Come on, Ted. Sure it's no more peculiar than all that stuff we learned in the seminary, you know, Heaven and Hell and everlasting life and all that type of thing. You're not meant to take it seriously, Ted!

Father Ted is funny, very funny indeed,IMO. Though I don't watch it often now as I know every episode so well, like Fawlty Towers. The only other sitcom I'd put above those two would be the brilliant Early Doors, anyone who doesn't find that funny is clearly not wired-up right

Early Doors. Pickles
![]() How this escaped so many is puzzling. Comedy at it's best. |

I'd put Father Ted, Fawlty Towers and Early Doors ahead of any other similar type shows.
OFAH was great at first but went downhill quickly and never recovered. |
By:
Graham Linehan who did Father Ted also created the brilliant Black Books and IT Crowd.
I was a bit disappointed by his latest series, watched about 1/2 an episode and gave up. |
By:
I never watched Black Books and haven't heard of IT Crowd.
By:
Black Books isn't maybe that well known, had Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey in it.
But very good, bit of a cult following, people who like it, like it. |
