Promising start chaps, I just looked up Cheryl Ladd and she is 63 and still looks completely wonderful.
Don't forget, our hero is about 5 feet 2.
This is hilarious, Alan Ladd is like a little flat jockey yet he is knocking over several big bad bruisers in the pub for fun. This like a Carry On filum! I'm sticking with it as it's quite funny although I don't think that was the intention of the film makers that it's deemed a comedy.
I'll see it through as it was on bucket list of films I've never seen before. Das Boot is on that list as well.

Das Boot was a brilliant TV series, the abbreviated film of the series is crap. In other words SB, buy the series with English subtitles and not the film.

Jack Palance turns up and shoots someone dead, he has been in so many Westerns. To be honest with you all, I'm sticking with it til the very end but I'm not impressed to put it mildly. It is not a film that has aged well to say the very least.
Alan Ladd was allegedly 5’6” , I think imdb are a bit generous with these things at times.

nah but in the book he's badly injured at least but still rides off into the sunset
Well I feel completely drained after that, apart from watching the Hurricane Fly race in Ireland I watched every minute of Shane.
I'm glad that I did really and quite enjoyed it. He must have died in the end, being bloody and wounded riding into the sunset he would have bled to death for sure fairly quickly I would have thought. It was a good film and have ticked it off of my list of things to do but it's not a film I'd ever care to see again. It was quite nice to have a couple of hours betting free to be honest.

Can`t dispute that. John Wayne, James Stewart and Henry Fonda were my favourite Western actors.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance was good. Had Wayne, Stewart and Lee Marvin.
My Darling Clementine with Fonda and Victor Mature was another great film.

In the funeral scene, the dog consistently refused to look into the grave. Finally, director George Stevens had the dog's trainer lie down in the bottom of the grave, and the dog played his part ably. The coffin (loaded with rocks for appropriate effect) was then lowered into the grave, but when the harmonica player began to play "Taps" spontaneously, the crew was so moved by the scene that they began shoveling dirt into the grave before remembering the dog's trainer was still there.
According to the commentary on the DVD, during the scene where Shane and Joe are fighting in the corral, the tied horses were supposed to panic. To instill hysteria in the horses, director George Stevens had two men dress in bear costumes to scare them.
Although the movie is generally remembered for its blue sky vistas, the weather was actually cloudy or rainy for a great deal of the shoot. However, if you look beyond the mud in the town, you can see that the ground is dry. Obviously, part of the town had been watered down.
When Shane is teaching Joey to shoot he says that the handle of the gun should be placed between the wrist (pointing to Joey's elbow) and the shoulder (pointing to Joey's wrist).
