Had some goodish songs written for him that any old half decent crooner could have done just as well. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Agree completely, overrated bog standard lounge style crooner, apart from his impeccable timing, wonderful phrasing, brilliant interpretation of a song, wonderful voice control, and being emotionally on the money with every note, etc,etc,etc, nothing special at all, same applies to his acting.

I seen him Live at Ibrox in the pissing rain when he was well past his prime and it was a truly magnificent night, despite him missing a few notes. A true showbiz legend.
