Anyone remember these? Black & yellow paperbacks ubiquitous at on time and offering titles that semi convinced the would be buyer that mastery of any subject was in his/her grasp.
Teach Yourself Punjabi, Teach Yourself Gas fitting, Teach Yourself Sexual Intercourse.
I remember buying Teach Yourself Aikido (
) when I was about 14, and after several pages realised it was better to enrol in a club. 
Where are they now?
Anyway being a saddo even back then, my favourite was Teach Yourself Calculus

The "... Made Simple" books were good too. "Philosophy Made Simple" was excellent. You could have written a doctoral thesis discussing the title alone.
I had the ones on Geoemetry and Algebra, and a fat lot of good they were as well.

I once borrowed a weighty tome from the library entitled How to Hustle, expecting a definitive guide to the art of scams and swindles. Imagine my disappointment, therefore, when it just turned out to be a volume of the Encyclopedia Britannica.
