Most of the food is imported.
Stand up for uk producers.
Spend a little more, maybe twice as much but be loyal to the uk.

Farmer's Markets.  The truth.

Farmer's Shops that you get in the country next to the actual field where they are grown, hopefully, maybe are alright and a little different.  But farmer's markets are largely on their @rse, or at least the ones I have been to are.

Somebody saved some food miles last night by nicking a quarter of my rhubarb.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves April 23, 2015 10:05 AM BST
Good to know some people still eat enough fruit and veg to want to nick it. Scrumping has virtually disappeared as a hobby.

Never noticed Lidl having fewer UK products than the multi-nationals.

Thinly veiled Money Tree "I've bought Tesco shares, bail me out of here" thread imo.

Be strong. Don't crumble.

My shares are speculative mining shares.
There are far higher uk produce in other supermarkets if you tool the time to care or look.

Its a wonder there are any food suppliers left the way the big grocers cut them to the bone.
In order to survive they need to constantly cut cost usually the staff and quality of the ingredients.
Then we who are constantly looking for a bargain complain about the cr@p that goes into our food.

Times must be desperate indeed for loss making Tesco when they are getting MT to pimp for them Laugh
..

And given his track record, I forecast record annual sales growth for Aldi an LIDL.

I can recommend the LIDL fruit and nut chocolate bar. 200 grams for less than a pound and in my view it's better than Cadbury's version.

And whilst I haven't found it in this country yet the Canadian Whisky I drank whilst out in Spain last winter was delicious and it cost about £3 a bottle.

Aldi in Edinburgh sell Scottish cold-pressed rapeseed oil ( a few farms from Lothians to the Borders grow the rape )
Down in Newcastle they sell British cold-pressed rapeseed oil - same product, just different label.

They know how to market food as local.

M&S CL compared to the rest. Guaranteed quality. Love their chocolate.

Have I got you mixed up with another Money Tree? You're clearly a discerning high roller but I seem to remember another Money Tree who was a potless mug giving out tips who didn't have a bean to bet with.

how much is it ?
Report bongo April 26, 2015 12:23 AM BST
Hiya Platini:

From memory it's about £2.50 for 500ml, so quite a lot dearer than regular rapeseed oil which goes through a warm press.

I couldn't find it though on their web-site. This is the supplier though:
.
http://www.borderfields.co.uk/our-products/scottish-rapeseed-oil/

but when the same stuff is sold in stores over the border in Northumberland and Newcastle it mysteriously becomes British

Report Money Tree cost me thousands!! April 26, 2015 8:03 AM BST
The fields could be on the borders so one side gets Scottish the other English?

I wouldn't say I had the most refined palate in the world wit-ham but I'd say it was more of a caramel sweet taste rather than chocolate or cream.
