I'm not sure whether UKIP have a special "Attenborough must in future have cardboard animals in a TV studio" policy in the manifesto, but to be truthful I haven't looked yet.
I would imagine there is massive scope though for a streamlined BBC, when one alone considers the massive duplication of news across all present formats. The corporation should of course be carrying out that cull themselves. It shouldn't require an outsider to make those straightforward and long-overdue changes. |

The "BBC Asian Network" should be one of the very first things to go of course. When I last looked Britain was part of Europe, not Asia. We don't have a BBC Europe Network station, nor do we need one. There is already a long-established BBC World Service in place which can be heard by many across the globe. I listened to sport on the BBC World Service, for example, last time I was in Hong Kong.
Loads of scope for straightforward and sensible cuts. Get on with it. |

If people want to listen to Asian, African, European, Australasian, American etc programmes, they can do so 24 hours a day over the Internet if they choose. You can also watch and listen to all sorts of recorded material and broadcasts from those countries.

Most of them seem to turn up at sites where the news has happenedm but has stopped. On a jolly-up in Portugal two days after the McCann child went missing. Outside No.10 reporting on something Cameron said, an hour after he left for Westminser. Standing alone in the rain, two hours after the Somerset Levels got flooded. Giving us a view of house 100 yards away and cordoned off by police, the day after a murder. And on and on and on and on and on and on... The only one I know that was 'there' as it happened was Kate Adie in war zones. I think they were trying to get her killed to save on the pension. |

They certainly don't go knocking on doors, asking awkward questions in (for example) Rotherham, Rochdale, Belfast, or the borders of Northern Ireland and the Republic.

Let the Board of Trustees be elected by the licence-payer every 4 years ( over-75s excluded from voting unless they pony up out of their own pockets )
Let the Board of Trustees set the value of the fee ( not a government department ) Those two simple steps would make the BBC accountable to those who pay for it, both on cost and content We'll soon find out what size of BBC is desired by the public |

Just watched what should be a simple programme format: Interviewer vs Party Leader Politician, just one of each, on BBC2. No graphics. No action. No reason to even be a TV programme when it was all talk.
About 11 people on the credits. You can go on youtube and get a lot of quality interviews with top people, often top scientists, and about 3 people or fewer required. |
