I have seen it mentioned on here a few times, and thought it may be a nice place to visit.

But I can't find it in my 10 year old atlas.

Is it a new country that has sprung up in the last decade?

Not too near the Equator I hope, I don't like too much heat.

Bongo Bongo Land is a non-existent country, full of non-existent people.

The curious thing though is that if you make mention of it, it makes one a Racist apparently, according to the Luvvies anyway.

Bizarrely though, no-one amongst the Luvvies can actually tell you which race has been offended. The Luvvies simply take Pretendy Offence on behalf of an unstated race.

The last person I saw playing Bongo drums was that fine African native, erm, Ian Brown of The Stone Roses.

Where does the very pale magician Ali Bongo fit in with this sort of desperately-contrived African native image association?

Ali Bongo (8 December 1929 – 8 March 2009) was a British comedy magician, and president of The Magic Circle who performed an act in which he was known as the "Shriek of Araby"

Born as William Oliver Wallace in Bangalore, India, where his father (also called William) was serving as a Sergeant Major with the 1st Battalion of the Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment,

"My name is Ali Bongo and I come from Pongo, pong-tiddley-pongo land.  not sure where that is ?Confused

It's a fantasy land full of boogey men, who are looking to steal your jobs and your houses, impregnate your women and drink your blood.

It was invented in 2013 by Godfrey Bloom of Lincolnshire, to scare ignorant lower class white people and dementia ridden old age pensioners.

I think there may have been a reference to it in Alan Clark's diaries.

Bongo Bongo Land, for me, is a lazy phrase used by Sir Bufton Tuftons who are too damned ignorant or stupid to say where precisely they mean, usually because it's a vague and generalist statement about some overarching and unfocuussed prejudice the user has against foreigners, particularly blacks.

There are hundreds of bongo bongo lands this is the problem. Almost 90% of the worlds countries are completely barbaric.

I worked briefly in the Dongo region of the DRC for a contractor for the UN - it was 9 months of being scared to go out of the compound.
So there is definitely a Dongo Bongo land! It's not a nice place though unless you enjoy eating snakes. There is a local soup called something like Dongo Dongo which is pretty nice after 10 days of wet and cold. It's surprising how you can feel cold when you've picked up a virus in such a hot place. Never again.

Where does the very pale magician Ali Bongo fit in with this sort of desperately-contrived African native image association?

Wasn't it Godfrey Bloom the racist who evoked this association by using the term in reference to recipients of foreign aid?
