Neasden Central police Station
0815 hrs The Station Armed Response Unit answered an urgent distress call from a guest at the St Christopher bed and breakfast establishment in Somerfield Road. The lady in question, Mrs Doreen Burqa, a devout Moslem, claimed that she had been racially and religiously by the guest house proprietor, Mr Timothy Wetherspoon, who had offered a "full English", including a rasher of bacon and a pork sausage, in breach of the Public Order (Racial and Religious Harassment) Regulations 2007.
On arrival, the team led by Det Sgt Farringdon arrested Mr Wetherspoon, who was unfortunately injured while being assisted into the back of a police car. He was charged with 17 offences (see above), which he did not deny owing to the fact that he was unconscious.
The accused unfortunately died before admitting his guilt, and his wife's request that her husband be given a Christian burial was refused on the grounds that it would be a provocative and inflammatory act that would give further offence to the injured party and the wider Moslem community.
Mrs Burqa was awarded £315,000 ex-gratia compensation for the insult which had been offered to her religion, and the widow Mrs Wetherspoon was ordered to sell the guest house to raise the money required.
A Mrs Wetherspoon, of no fixed abode, was later found wandering along Morrison Road and arrested for vagrancy.
