Rides the first 4 miles to around and then goes for it.
Very quiet rider in big chases, usually spotted sprinting past tired horses having given his beast little chance of actually winning.
A truly staggering performance.
Lots of the jockeys seem obsessed with racing to the Melling Road , rather than the finish line.

Staggeringly I have seen posts on this topic where people have used the stat as proof he is a poor jockey as he should have converted at least one of those to a win. Utter morons.
It is a sensational record that probably will never be replicated. Is there even another jockey who has completed the last seven nationals, let alone get placed?

I too have seen these ludicrous statements , Roger.
