A 6 pint carton is £1.30 in asda

About 50p i think

£1 for 4 pints in sainsburys

I don't use milk but if I did I'd be happy to pay a few extra pence if it stops the majors screwing the dairy industry into ground

what amazes me is that people actually buy the 2 pints for 79p instead

I generally buy reduced to clear milk, can usually get 5-7 days out of it after the best before date.

Why pay 62p per pint when you can get it for 25p or less?

Reduced milk is one thing I'd never ever buy , what's the point when nice fresh milk is less than 25p pint with 2 weeks sell by date on it !

We went back to a milkman because we moved to new house on the edge of town no shops close by and he delivers other stuff like big bags of tatties

Put another way, you are paying almost £100 pa over the odds!

The thing is if I go to the shop for milk I end up buying other things I don't really need

......but don't you do a weekly supermarket shop in any case?

I would hazard a guess that his "tatties", eggs and orange juice are also over priced!

I pay 50p for a single pint or £1.50 for a four-pinter.

I had a right old barney with the lady in the local shop the other day when buying milk.  The milk at the front of the fridge was right on its sell-by date and she caught me plucking a four-pinter from the back which still had a week left.

I took the view (and still do) that, as the customer, I could pick whichever product I deemed favourable.  She saw it differently and had a total hissy fit.

I always look behind if those at the front only have a day left. Nothing wrong with that imo although your experience doesn't surprise me, being at a small independent store.

If you asked half of those smary journalists who put the the milk question to mps... I´ll bet half of them wouldn´t know in advanced without their "research".

It's always wise to answer "a pound" when posed any such questions, a bit like Peter Butterworth in Carry On Camping.

I think it's a quid for 2 litres in the local shop. I don't really drink much milk though, just a tiny drop in my tea and that's about it.

Farmer on a first milk contract is getting 18p per litre for 80% and 14 per litre for other 20 % untill cows go back out to grass its costing 26 to produce,
Why were allegedly unprofitable pits and steelworks closed whilst farmers are subsidised through cap by the eu?

Sainsbury's have Spitfire Ale reduced from £2 to £1.25 per 500ml bottle.

lotta people here don't go to the shops much - milk came down to 89p for 2 litres across the board in many supermkts a couple of months ago.  Iceland led the way, quickly followed by Lidl, and i don't know who else.  Butter also fell to 88p a month ago.   Dairy farmers are being put out of business asw fast as possible.   I dunno why.

a single pint is 55p in many supermarkets. obviously only a complete idiot would buy that.  The 1 litre option is also exceedingly bad vvalue, compared to the all-conquering 2 litre buy.
