Been discussing this at work and got a few questions.
Does the party with the most seats automatically get to provide the PM if they choose?
If so why was there all this hoo haa last time with Brown not giving it up and trying to get the lib dems on side?
If not why didn’t the lib dems join with labour and form a coalition government? (This would have seemed a little unfair on the tories imo)
Tories are big favs for most seats yet a labour minority government is considered more likely than a tory minority govt. Why?

They could have done but they said they would give the biggest party first option. |

blimey, that was noble of them. Thought they would be more aligned to labour. Would they have had to sacrifice their tuition fees stance with labour?

They were and are closer to Labour but forming a coaltion with the second biggest party wouldn't have been very democratic.
As for tuition fees - who knows? |

They committed suicide by aligning with the Tories, as they'll find out in a few weeks. Assuming they don't know already, of course.

They should have joined the tories but stood firm on the tuition fees thing imo. You need to compromise in a coalition but they should have stood firm on that, not doing so has cost them big time.
