I'll start it off this little beauty... I could fck the arse off it and still stay up for more:
http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/detail/motors/classic-cars/jaguar/etype/115480 a very nice example ,although just the 3.8 straight 6 and does not have external bonnet catches which again are the more desirable although from 1964 onwards the V12 4.2 was used ,the distributor cap was like a frying pan ![]() The aluminum center consol, along with a few other things (gear box and brakes ) ,the photo does not show the rear badge as the later model had 4.2 on it instead of just the jag emblem . still a very nice example though ,a series 1 roadster (4.2) was the dogs bollocks imo although nothing on a Austin Allergy vanden plas (1.7)...or if your really squeezed an early BMW Mini ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By:
Vanden Plas - did a reputation ever get taken downmarket so far as this one
- a byword for luxury that ended up being used to adorn the cheapest ugliest car ever conceived (sort of) |
|
By:
have they been heard of since those halcyon days - which they were for me as I was about 9 when the Allegro came out and car-mad - . Ford had the Ghia name to mark their 'luxury' simulations. They always did everything better in the Great Threeway War of Ford, Britsh Leyland and vauxhall that raged throughout the 70's

I packed a 1923 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost for export to the U.S.A back in the 1970s. Dark green bodywork, purple upholstery and all polished brass fittings, a beautiful car.

*just to add a correction to my E-type info ,the 4.2 was in fact still a 6cyl
, the V12 5.3 did not arrive until 73 in the S3 the cost of the s1 E-type was 2k ,of course all things are always relevant and the average house was prob well under half that ,but just guessing a good example could fetch 200-300 now ,the best of the lot is an E-type lightweight very rare ..telephone numbers (mobile ) |

Any Roller or Bentley owners/drivers on here?

Don't mobiles have 11 digits, the same as landlines?
I've had some bad cars and good cars. I'd still prefer a MK2 Jaguar to any other car I've driven, which include a MK 10, 2x XJ6s and my current 4.0 Sovereign, and a big Merc I hired for 2 weeks in 2002, it was the most uncomfortable big car I've ever driven. Having said that, the Jags were definitely bird pullers but I couldn't pull a bird in a Bugatti Veyron these days. ![]() |
|
By:
Dunno about car porn but in my youth I was expert in the Karma Sutra of the Ford Escort i.e. how many diff ways to sh&g your bird in and on your Escort.
But my old man being the fkr that he is casually asked over dinner, in front of everyone, why my car had footprints on the inside of the roof. ![]() |

06 Apr 15 16:33 Any Roller or Bentley owners/drivers on here? When we first moved here there was an advert in the local rag selling a Roller for £5k I cut the advert out out and left it on the kitchen worktop, as a hint to my beloved. ![]() The next day it had 'NO' in big red letters across it, and it was on my desk. She-who-must-be-obeyed had spoken. |

06 Apr 15 16:38 and a big Merc I hired for 2 weeks in 2002, it was the most uncomfortable big car I've ever driven. Correction, it was 1998, and may have only been a week, it was when I first started to wear glasses. I had to collect them on Monday, This was on a Friday at a car hire firm. My teenage daughters were with me, and I told them to pick 'Something nice, and it's not to be red.' When they had picked it, all I could see in the catalogue was a blur of silver, and it cost £550 to hire it. And it WAS the most uncomfortable big car I've ever driven. |
