We are told the water levels are rising all over the world. Can we flood deserts with sea water - my thinking is that it would bring salt water vegetation along with fish inland. Also water would evaporate bringing rain(fresh water) inland too. We have canal systems in the uk that go up and down. They've built the suez and panama canals?

Already happening in a sense.
One of the apocalyptic predictions of global warming from the early 1990s is increasing 'desertification'. People have tried to put a definition on that as there are so many types, totally arid, semi-arid, seasonal etc. Satellites have tried to measure it, and contrary to predictions it appears to be reducing slightly, mainly because of human irrigation.
National Geographic recently carried an article about 8 major rivers that don't make it to the sea any more - the Darling Murray basin is one some of which irrigates the Australian desert. So rather than pumping sea water into the desert, we stop fresh water getting to the sea in the first place and pump that into the desert, cutting out one step of the process.

Have you wondered WHY they are deserts in the first place? Have you worked out where the sudden excess of rain will fall...and it's effect?

Why can't we just improve breeding conditions for sponges. The extra sponges will absorb the excess water. Job sorted and Norfolk saved.
