We keep our existing nuclear arsenal( i believe we have 32 trident missiles? which mrs thatcher leased from the USA)
we keep them and use a wire brush to clean the barnacles off the existing submarines.

we forget buying the next generation - just till we actually have the money to spare on a phantom arsenal that we will never deploy. saving 100 billion for normal defence stuff like boats and planes. NHS. and pensions. roads etc.

its not like cabbages, the nuclear missiles will still work, they don't go moldy. they maybe twenty years old but they still work.

The sad thing is that you actually believe that is a sensible statement.

I was referring to the nonsense that stopping Trident renewal would balance the UK budget.

he doesn't quite fit the profile of a chit chat pub bore, but how about listening to Jonathan Portes (Director of the National Institute for Economic and Social Research)
