The greatest goal I never saw. The entire male population of Bolton claimed to have been there to see it. Bolton lost the game. If you watch the clip, the ballboy behind the goal leaping with delight is Julian Darby who went on to play almost 300 games for the Wanderers.

I was lucky enough to have met the great man out in the States playing for the old New York Cosmos I believe from memory. Such a funny bloke , loved a beer and had his opinions about the sport. Lovely lovely fellah and a match winner still in those days in the twilight of his career.

Badger - yes i guess so over the decades , but Ipswich like Derby too for example is a medium sized town which had no right to any success .
