Giving this a body swerve.

Would rather see what Dame Isabel Piczek has to say about the Turin shroud.

99% of Bible-themed films are complete garbage. The Mel Gibson one was kinda interesting, though possibly working to some strange Jesuit template...so that just leaves...Pasolini's Gospel According to Matthew film...

Been trying to watch Moses the Lawgiver starring Burt Lancaster but it's really poor too.

Two off-putting things about the Pasolini film are that the guy who plays Jesus is a ringer for Seve Ballesteros...and they should've done something about the monobrow...Cry

This adaptation at least didn't have blue eyed blondes in the lead roles. Although 'Frasier' playing Herod and an arab playing Heysoos, was strange.

A cheaply made load of tosh..

If so, how many of these were in it?

unemployable people
grade A students
aspiring footballers

Spotted the odd leper and dwarf. And Judas looked a bit tasty when he kicked a pebble..

Wasn't the Beeb, some Yank cable crap..

King Of Kings was a great movie with Jeffrey Hunter in the lead role. The Robe with Victor Mature was brilliant too. Lots of great biblical themed films.

The Ma was in love with Jeffrey Hunter, and told me she cried for a week when he died.. It was her fault i watched The Searchers 49455358383668 times as a child.. And thus got me hooked on westerns..

Missed it ... how did it end?  Tears I suppose.

And can anybody tell me the answer to this ...

if Jesus was born on 25 Dec (and it's always that date), how come he died on a moveable date - anytime between mid March to mid April.

Bit like the FA cup final is now, I suppose.

But doesn't make sense (Jesus date, not cup final).

*** SPOILER ALERT*** it all ends badly...

I think the dates were conflated with existing Pagan festivals and the Spring one was tied to the phases of the moon which are not fixed dates in the Gregorian Calendar.
The execution of Jesus would have been well documented as the Romans kept excellent trial records, however in this case they have mysteriously disappeared. Many of the accounts were written well after the event and as can be ascertained from St Paul's letter to the Galatians, there were different Christian groups involved in power struggles at the time. The Roman historian Josephus gives a similar account to the Bible but I freely admit to not being expert in these matters and maybe a biblical scholar like Velasquez may be able to enlighten us some more.
