Makes a staggerin' fortune from writing songs - takes her about 20 mins. with a guy at the piano. Beyonce, Rihanna, Aguillera, etc. bidding for the songs.

How to sing Chandelier by Sia - Felicia Ricci

Laugh

Genius!

Karaoke singers the lot of them. When I were a lad only real talented singers became famous. Now any Tom, Dick or Harriett can make a record or get on telly. Crazy

Sia writes very good popular music.

That's so very true tmm.

How can you compare today's garbage on The Voice with the likes of Ella, Dusty, Judith Durham etc. Tom Jones thinks they're rubbish, I'm sure but wants to remain popular.

Sia - Day Too Soon

Live...great talent IMO...love her Love
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 10:43 PM BST
How many songs did those artists actually write Kenny? I like them all but Sia is a brilliant writer and indeed performer in her own right.

Sia - Day Too Soon

Croaky noices coming from her throat, and strangled vowels which seems to have been the "way" to sing for quite a while.

Her tits are decent though.
Report kenny mann March 30, 2015 10:46 PM BST
No idea if they were songwriters or not mate.

I'm basing my opinion on their voices.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 10:47 PM BST
Might be a brilliant writer but I found her performance boring.
When I listen to a singer it never enters my head whether they wrote the song or not, I'm just interested in the performance.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 10:50 PM BST
She has a unique voice and style, is a prolific songwriter, used to be in a very good band and has crackin' charlies - what's not to like here...??
Report akabula March 30, 2015 10:54 PM BST
Joe Pasquale has a unique voice but I wouldn't want to hear him sing.
BTW I remember the same hype with Duffy.
Not saying they aint okay singers just not the best.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 10:54 PM BST
She is always thinking creatively too - like the fluorescent paper costumes she and her band wore on the Jools Holland Show...and the dance video with the kid...the signing she did on the Letterman show...one of the few singers who really does deliver better live performances than studio stuff...
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 10:55 PM BST
I' sure there were plenty of old fogeys in the 60's moaning that the Beatles, Stones, Aretha etc weren't "proper" music.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 10:56 PM BST
Not much good if you're listening on the radio or to a cd.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 10:57 PM BST
I wouldn't even put her top of the tree with the current lot.
Poor argument eeter.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:00 PM BST
Jeez.....if it's a voice you lot really want to hear y'all better go and listen to Maria Callas 'cos she's on a different planet than Dusty, Ella, etc...of course, she didn't write her own music either...Laugh

But...a singer like that is only born once every hundred years...
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 11:00 PM BST
A lot of the singers from back in the day couldn't hold a tune in a bucket. If Dylan had started his cauterwauling anywhere he wasn't feted they would have emptied the contents of chamber pots on his head and yet he was the voice of a generation. Springsteen was the voice of another generation and live he often looked and sounded like he had terrible piles.
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 11:02 PM BST
By the way I'm not comparing Sia to those tunesmiths. Just sticking up for the fact that she is a talented artist in her own right.
Report kenny mann March 30, 2015 11:07 PM BST
Not a patch on Lady Ga Ga. Now she IS talented although a bit of an oddball.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:08 PM BST
I agree with Eternaloptimist - this woman has had serious mental health problems - and other health issues - but she has worked her way up for years...Sia Furler is not any kind of overnight sensation...she is a genuine "one off" - I'd compare her to Kraftwerk as she is not writing conventional love sings - she is a pop genius IMO, who is producing songs with odd structures.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 11:10 PM BST
The problem is Vel that I listen to most of my music whilst driving so the performance of the singer other that the voice is irrelevant.
What proportion of the population go to gigs, small I'd guess.
So it's like apples and oranges. I'm only interested in the voice you want the whole package. Fine.
People I like I could listen to an album, with her I couldn't.
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 11:10 PM BST
Exactly. No disrespect to GAGA but she is a bit of a style Madonna wannabe with a few decent songs. You'll be citing Katy Perry next Kenny. Sia is a one off.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:11 PM BST
love "songs" - silly love sings...Grin
Report akabula March 30, 2015 11:11 PM BST
Should have include in there whilst driving or a backdrop when playing poker.
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 11:12 PM BST
Pink is another very talented writer when she isn't writing maudling semi country shiit to which she is unsuited.
Report kenny mann March 30, 2015 11:12 PM BST
Anyone who can hold a stage with Tony Bennett's perfect pitch, has to be talented, and that's what Ga Ga does.
Report kenny mann March 30, 2015 11:13 PM BST
I love Pink.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 11:15 PM BST
Duffy was a one off and I couldn't listen to her too often.
It's all about taste. You obviously see a lot more in Sia than I do.
So what doesn't make you right or wrong, nor me.
BTW Vel all that back ground stuff is what would turn me off talent shows.
Report kenny mann March 30, 2015 11:16 PM BST
I'm not familiar with Pink's voice though, but what she does with her life.
Report Eeternaloptimist March 30, 2015 11:17 PM BST
She could sit on my face and warble all day if she liked and she wouldn't even need to have a bath the night before.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:17 PM BST
Yer attitude is all wrong, Aka - think of football - Davie Cooper and Gazza weren't conventional footballers...Silly

Sia has got a touch of oddball genius about her - she is quite a childlike person, hence you see her getting so excited at the end of concerts. I don't see any problem with her voice either, though, as the lady singing teacher shows, she has a strange singing style, cutting off the consonants in words.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:20 PM BST
"Davie Cooper was all left foot...nae pace...!" Grin

No point concentrating on faults when the good points are so obvious.
Report akabula March 30, 2015 11:27 PM BST
Poor analogy. Both DC and PG had supreme skill as acknowledged by most.
As I said in a singer it's only about the voice for me as I rarely watch the performance.
So all the gimmicks and sob stories don't do much for me.
Maybe her concerts are sublime but I'll never know as I'll never attend one.
Report Velasquez March 30, 2015 11:29 PM BST
Aka - did you hear big D.J. the night on Clyde...?

Four crocked Newcastle lads costing Rangers £8,000 per week (all in) as Rangers are paying for their flats too...and horrendous shirt contract etc. with Sports Direct...no chance of a fan boycott as Rangers pay for unsold gear...

Fook....it took me 2 minutes to work out who PG is, there...Sad...still...mentally unstable player who can be a liability at any second...who needs THAT...? Cry

STILL NAE NOMAD...DE-LIST YA BASSAS...! Excited
Report akabula March 30, 2015 11:49 PM BST
Strange set up with the Newcastle lads. Will be surprised if the deals aren't rescinded given Ashley's foot in both camps.
As regards the Nomad/De-listing, no big deal. BTW player who can be unstable at any minute? who've signed him? Wink

Jim Morrison started off with his back to the audience. With him it was chronic shyness.
Sia apparently just doesn't want to be recognized. Bit pointless now since she's been interviewed plenty.Crazy

Re her talent, cracking songwriter and tremendous vocals. Go compare Rihanna's Titanium with Sia's original. No contest.
She reminds me of Cyndi Lauper, who was criminally under-rated IMO.

Elastic Heart, best song for years, what a fantastic voice and also got loads more of the same, I haven't listened to a lot of music in the past couple of years, so I had never heard of her, but now I'm going to buy the lot. cheers.
