like anywhere else, Friday and Saturday are the busiest nights though still plenty going on all other nights
Rijks Museum - paintings by all the dutch masters - The Night Watch, Frans Hals - proper paintings! Van Gogh Museum Anne Frank House Canal boat tour
Loads of great restaurants
Cafe Luxembourg on Spuistraat for lunch/drink
you can walk everywhere easily - but get a map as every street looks the same
If you've got the dough, stay at the Toren hotel. Hotel Vondel is a good option

I've stayed at a few hotels from budget to 5*. You can usually find a deal on even the better ones. Would definitely try and keep in the centre though - the Hilton, for example, is miles away. Trams run nearby, but still...
There are two sex museums - one is almost as soon as you leave Centraal Station, the other in the main red light district. If you're doing either, go with the former.
Rijksmuseum is fine if you're into that sort of thing. My missus loved it. Pricey enough if you're a pleb like me though.
I've not done Anne Frank Huis. I sat in a coffeeshop while the wife went. She came back disappointingly soon, if that's any indication.
Speaking of coffeeshops, avoid the Bulldog ones if you can. Plenty of good ones though, usually down some alley.
The Hemp museum is utter sh!te. It's about the size of a portakabin.
Leidseplein is a very popular spot at night. Loads of bars etc. Nearby there are a couple of parallel streets, whose names escape me, but virtually every building is a restaurant. They nearly all have a tout outside trying to lure you in. Easy to find good, cheap food. Indonesian a must.
