Was watching this a few years ago, just catching the odd bit. I noticed that a famous person got name-checked in every episode, whether it was Elvis, Ryan Giggs or whoever. There is definitely some sort of formula to the script. I think it was quite watchable for the first 15-20 decades, with a believable pretense that it was about ornery Northern folk, etc., but now it's utter boak.
Having missed about three years' worth, I caught only 2 minutes last night, in a hair salon, and hey ho : Vivien Leigh, Ralph Richardson and Marilyn Monroe all name-checked...do you think the scriptwriters have some sort of private pool going on? I mean, Ralph Richardson, fur fuxache...!
"Bet you can't name-check Brian Rix..."
"OK - £20 says I can..."
"£50 says you can't name-check Ralph Richardson and Marilyn Monroe in the same scene..."
Victoria Wood did a terrific parody of Coronation Street a few years back. You'll need to know the early characters and plot lines to appreciate how brilliant it is.

Since Tracy B started sexing things up in her black stockinged legs I've been watching regularly. Even Liz M will have to up her game at this rate. No wonder Tony had dabbled away from home.

One day my dream is to set up a little house in Cannibal Farm, Liverpool with Tracy Barlow and Janine from 'Deadenders'. That pair can then dominate me all day and invite girlfriends such as Liz M and Sir Rocco F's niece around for tea.

Cannibal Farm has been called Stockbridge Village for some considerable time, Alun.. Tis still a dump btw. They should have amalgamated it with it's neighbour Knowsley Safari Park. I would however fear for the safety of the latters inhabitants..

LOL, that's great news Guinness. Sadly I am once again behind the times. Great to see the Non-Gentrification of Cannibal Farm has reached such dizzying heights !
