Ridiculously OTT.
Should have just been interred quietly in a small service with his descendants present. Not be subject to this circus. It may not be winter, but I'm still discontent. |

Let's not let the fact that he, in all probability, was a child killer, get in the way of a good old spectacle.

Embarrassing scenes indeed.
In an era when anyone seen even patting a child on the head is a paedophile, here's an alleged child double-murderer being given the VIP treatment. I'm amazed that various Z-list celebrities aren't arriving on the red carpet to tell us how much they loved the misunderstood old pervert. I'd imagine that KIng Richard would prefer to be buried in York as well. If he could see modern day Leicester, he'd be turning in his box. |

I hope this re-enactment of the death of Richard III help the Police find who killed him.
There'll be a few calls to Crimewatch off the back of this. "Were you in the vicinity of Bosworth Field in the summer of 1485? If so, Leicestershire Constabulary would like to hear from you." |

I assume there was an official inquiry into his death at the time. Assuming the judiciary still moves at the same speed, I am expecting a summary of the inquiry's findings about now.

Gary Glitter nonces up a bunch of kids and we throw away the key (quite rightly).
This Herbert murders his nephews, waits around a few centuries and we're hanging out the Jennie Bond and Nicholas Witchell- flavoured bunting for him. Rum old world. |

I waiting to see what other items they'll put in his grave. I expect one of the items will be a CD of Supergrass's 1997 single "Richard III".
When I get buried in Westminster Abbey, I'll personally be demanding that my Phil Taylor signed dartboard, and my Wimbledon memorabilia signed by Steffi Graf and Marion Bartoli comes with me for eternity. |

If ever the muddled thinking of the UK has been illustrated it has been the last two days...
A middle-aged, wannabe yob (Clarkson) is quite rightly told his services are no longer required after he punches a work colleague. Same thing would almost certainly happen to anyone. As a result, the person assaulted receives public abuse and even death threats. Yet how many of those dishing out said abuse and death threats are today engaging in mawkish sentimentality about someone who died hundreds and hundreds of years ago? Showing 'respect' in this country seems to be a matter of choice, not a standard. Our thinking is muddled and foolish and this service, funeral, court case and whatever else, has been a scandalous and stupid waste of time and money. Say what you like, but can we be CERTAIN that is even the bones of Richard III? This all started with Diana and christ knows where it will end. What I would bet, though, is that the majority of those making a show of themselves today have yet to lose a loved one. Once they have, they will then learn what real grief and sadness is. I despair. |

Utterly ridiculous scenes, as the poem what I wrote for the ceremony was overlooked in favour of some dismal effort written by some taxpayer-funded state "official" poet.
Mine was a lot better, and for good measure here it is. I expect scholars will pore over it for the next 500 years. For solemnity I wrote it in blank verse. LINES FOR THE CEREMONIAL REBURIAL OF KING RICHARD III As my mortal remains lie in this Oak box, I think to myself "What was wrong with an cardboard eco-friendly job? And the Co-Op would have done a lot better send-off for less dough" What do you all reckon about my blonde highlights? Why? Because I'm worth it. Neat eh? They'll all be doing it one day. Not that I'm a Friend of Dorothy mind you. Fair play, I soon sorted out those bloody annoying nephews of mine didn't I? And got away with it. I gave them fair warning about playing Ker-Plunk and Buckaroo for all hours making their racket. Ye Gods, are they really burying me in Leicester? Why on earth did I try to help England so much, only for my ancestors to surrender it to the Peace Lovers? For God's sake put my box on the next Inter-City to Yorkshire. Not Rotherham though obviously. I'll even suffer the indignity of being interred next to Noncey Savile if you insist. Goodbye cruel world, and stop using my name as rhyming slang. THE END I think you'll all agree those would be far more fitting words for Cumberbatch to announce to the nation. |

Wiki : KerPlunk is a children's game first marketed by the Ideal Toy Company in 1967
You have some time-line issues there....otherwise....nice. |
