Sorry, didn't spot the other thread as I was outside.
Didn't even see the gloom as it never got any worse than if a whisp of cloud was covering.
They were talking about a surge in power demand that might be difficult to balance.

Worst eclipse ever. Only 70 odd years 'til the next one though so there's always that to look forward to.

We had good weather conditions too, but I hardly noticed any difference in the light.
As for confusing the wildlife... the squirrels were happily nibbling their nuts on the lawn as I went past them to go out.
I don't think they had noticed anything different, either.
As I had expected, it was completely underwhelming.

No way can you see a bit of black by looking straight at it, or did you make your own "Camera Obscura" like I did on the last partial eclipse.
It was a crude affair that I made, whilst in the car between calls, but it did the job.
Even though it was a partial, it was vastly more impressive than this none event. Witness the fact that people had their headlights on!

I forgot it was today. I was walking to the local shopping centre and it got a bit dark. I saw dark clouds and thought "rain coming". Some guy took a photograph of the dark clouds.
Hmmm. I see that the phenomenon of two huge pieces of rock falling into a precise alignment is lost upon some of us.
To me, it is a reminder of the fact that we are all existing on a rather large piece of debris whose passage through space is decided by forces that we cannot hope to match.
The eclipse was, as ever, only partial in most parts of the world. If that was not the case we would never see the Sun's corona.
As for those who complain about the lack of darkness...I can only suggest that you stick to going out at night and just imagine and eclipse!

I would be far far more impressed by the aurora borealis. There was one a few days ago I hear. Never seen it tho.
Total eclipses occur every 18 months or so. Bog standard eclipses happen about 2.5 times a year. None of them as w@nk as this morning's, I'll wager!

Apparently breathtaking event, birds stopped singing, temp dropped, went dark. Even straight A students became worried.
Did it fook. I was playing golf in West Midlands and at 9:30 light went a bit dull, birds kept singing and I kept missing easy putts.
What a lot of stupid hype from press and BBC.
Any straight A sudents caught up in the eclipse will receive counselling, according to BBC web-site.
