Has this been altered as the bottle now catches on the flexible rim of the fridge tray whereas previously slid out with ease, suggests some 'bowing' in the plastic.

Not sure. I'll ask the wife when she comes in from cleaning my car.
They've probably just made the containers a bit shorter and wider.
