Kenny, is this something that you've read somewhere, or have you actually checked to see if it is true.
I don't use Facebook so I couldn't comment, but it would seem to be stretching any rules that they might have. |

Facebook:: Ban violence against animals!
bettina bergener Germany Sign the petition We call on Facebook to change their Community Standards to stop the glorification and inciting of violence against animals. Only the inclusion of those terms will allow users to report specifically on certain Facebook pages. This way, violence against animals could be banned from Facebook. |

By:
A horrible organisation with little in the way of standards.
I closed my account years ago. |
By:
I would imagine the e.mail sender has seen these on Facebook and taken the appropriate action, only the appropriate action didn't work. I never go on Facebook.
By:
If it's true they may as well have a paedophile section where like minded people can share their views.
By:
It is just awful, Kenny

They say we're a nation of animal lovers but you just need to see how lenient our courts are with animal cruelty cases to dispel that myth.

These feckers who commit these acts and worse still, get pleasure out of posting them online, are just sick in the head. I try to keep away from that sick shy.te on FB, it just makes my blood boil. But if I see something I do re-post it, in the hope that the offenders will be identified and prosecuted. Actually, seen a post recently, a few kids, no more than 16yrs old, they had caught a live dolphin who swam in on the tide, a little baby one, and they found it hilarious to sit on it, swing it about etc etc. They posted it on their FB page and as far as I know, they were identified and will hopefully prosecuted. So it proves they are cruel but fortunately, dumb too. Tis a cruel world Kenny mann, unfortunately.

By:
Indeed chaps, I just find it staggering that this sort of thing is allowed.
By:
Yes, it isn't true. Facebook's great. I've been on there pretty much since it started and never seen such pages. Not saying they don't exist...just you'd have to really want to see stuff like that to find them. Mostly it's just me and my friends chatting.
By:
Yes but if you really WANT to see that stuff and can that makes it right does it? Facebook set of cuts if they allow this despite it being brought to their attention. They should not only not allow it they should assist in bringing the people to justice.
By:
Well like I've said I've no idea if that is true as I've not looked for it, nor reported anything. But it does sound like nonsense, probably posted by someone a bit out of the loop as it were.
By:
Well I sincerely hope you're right sparky, but 350,000 signatures on the petition so far, so I'd be amazed if you are.
By:
Petition?
By:
Clearly the picture has been circulated on Facebook to get a petition to shut these sites down. No way would you find that stuff on there.
By:
There are a lot more than a third of a million idiots in the world. Which of these facebook sites have you seen Kenny?
By:
ok chaps, hang on.
By:
ok I got this e.mail.
Facebook:: Ban violence against animals! bettina bergener Germany Sign the petition We call on Facebook to change their Community Standards to stop the glorification and inciting of violence against animals. Only the inclusion of those terms will allow users to report specifically on certain Facebook pages. This way, violence against animals could be banned from Facebook. There are plenty of pages, groups and events where animals abusers post pictures of sadistic and cruel violence against animals. These pictures show animals being trampled alive, stuffed into jars, burned alive or being sexually abused. No matter how often you report these pages, groups, events and images, you always get the same answer: "Thank you for taking the time to report something that you feel may violate our Community Standards. We reviewed the comment you reported for containing credible threat of violence and found it doesn't violate our Community Standards." (source: Facebook) Obviously Facebook think, that violence can only be executed against humans and not against animals. But violence against animals is also unacceptable and morally wrong. This doesn’t seem to be the case for Facebook and some of their users. We call on Facebook to change this and consider animal welfare. Facebook should not encourage potential imitators by allowing sadistic content online. By changing their Community Standards they can show, that society doesn’t tolerate such behaviour. |

There is no excuse for any violence or cruelty to animals. These evil people must be caught and prosecuted and jailed. Facebook need to show moral responsibility and actively cooperate in the prosecution of these vile individuals. |

Shall I sign, the petition with a comment, THIS IS A LOAD OF BOLOKS IT ISNT HAPPENING??? |

Yes when any one criticises a celebrity...it immediately becomes trolling
Yet it seems there is little justice for animals..sad I prefer animals to humans myself...the pity is they cannot talk |

By:
That's the internet for you.
Facebook, ebay, Youtube and others. Completely faceless and unaccountable to anyone. They all allow people who have nothing to say, a voice. They give idiots and nutters an opportunity to be a bit outrageous. There are FAR worse sites too, which show all manner of horrific stuff that should never have happened let alone be filmed. And, like the internet in general, these organisations are using the world of computers to scam, con and squeeze money out of the young, the vulnerable and sometimes, the sensible. |
By:
I would do that Kenny - best of both worlds. I imagine you know I am vegetarian. I am also pro animal rights in general, which is why i get through so many bloody shoes and belts in a year. The internet muddies things though. Two very decent people I know posted a video recently, apparently showing a generous Indian man giving a street seller 1000 rupees (which is actually just ten quid) and the seller then refusing to take the money as it was too much. All very lovely, it has been shared by many people - but if you look at the link it leads too, it's all a bit stranger and cynical.
By:
I DO know you're a vegetarian sparky. Always assumed it was for health reasons, as if you're pro animal rights, which I'm pleased to learn, you'd provide some support on the copious threads I'd started over the years, and maybe start some of your own. You never know it may just help. I know that I've stopped two people eating meat on here, with some horrific footage. Not much in 13 years but better than nothing.
By:
I can only suggest that any petitioners should personally seek out this animal cruelty on Facebook. THEN you should complain PERSONALLY to them and hen you will know if the accusation is true or not.
Otherwise you are just taking the word of a total stranger who might well have their own agenda. I would not put it past some people to tape up their own cat to create a story like this. The way I have indicated is the only way you will know for sure if what you are quoting is truth or lies. And please Kenny, do not deliberately misconstrue my remarks. You did this recently on another thread. It wasn't appreciated. |
By:
No Kenny, I won't automatically support stuff like this, it's unverified and irrational, and does more harm to the cause than good. It has less to do with caring for animals than it does being scared of social media.
By:
oh ffs, naydam, there you go again. You're as bad as Tommy Toes. Do I have to see everything with my own eyes to assume it's true?!
By:
36,000 signatures. Do you not think that at least a dozen of the would have looked into thoroughly, what they were signing for?
By:
I have no idea. That is the whole point. Everybody assumes that somebody else has checked.
The only way is to verify it yourself...or at least through somebody that you know. For example, I would accept your word for it, as I think I know you well enough to trust you. But I don't have any idea about the character of the petitioner. It just seems a strange response for Facebook to adopt. Maybe it's normal for them. I have no way of knowing. |
By:

Probably too conservative there Kenny. |
By:
You need to remember that the petition is NOT to stop animal cruelty...it is about Facebook's supposed reaction and rules.

By:
Horrible...if...hilarious scenes.

Well maybe it's not true, and animals can live happy ever after
