Such a pity that aid has to be sent to this asset rich country. Copper, Cobalt and large reserves of oil and natural gas should make this country self sufficient.  Widespread corruption  the main reason that it's citizens are in such an unfortunate position imho

Despite knowing that this aid is abused we do nothing about it.

Look on our own doorstep.

The UK is the world's sixth largest economy, yet 1 in 5 of the UK population live below our official poverty line, meaning that they experience life as a daily struggle.

It is unacceptable that over 13 million people in the UK do not have enough to live on, and most do not have the power to speak out about what this feels like and why it is wrong. We need a fairer and more equal country, in which everyone in the UK can live free from poverty and shame.

Look overseas at the world's 2nd biggest economy. How many of the population there live below our official poverty line? How many live below their official poverty line?

Yep. But as they say, two wrongs don't make a right.

In principle should law-abiding EU nationals who are permanently legally resident in the UK be allowed to vote in the GE on 7th May?  ( that's for facts btw )

The UK have sent Vanuatu £2 million to help them after the cyclone.

Their prime minster has asked for 'world' help on the television.

By the time the rest of world send money they will be well off.

Total population of 265,000 spread over 65 islands.

Most London Boroughs have larger populations.

There is news afoot of boundary changes, in order to decrease the number of MPs from 650 to 600.

How about just one MP for each county?

And throwing all the others off the gravy train.

Hooray, and so they should.

You mentioned over 6.5 million people don't have the power to speak out about what it feels like to be below the 60% median income line. What did you mean by that.

The old stereotype of Africa being permanently ravaged by war, disease and famine as portrayed by the likes of Comic Relief is a bit out-dated.

There is much progress but it doesn't fit the narrative to highlight such facts.

One such departure from the usual "Africa is a basket case" mantra was Jonathan Dimbleby's excellent series "An African Journey" which was on in 2010 before the World Cup.

"The UK is the world's sixth largest economy, yet 1 in 5 of the UK population live below our official poverty line, meaning that they experience life as a daily struggle."

It means no such thing given how stupidly poverty is defined in this country.

The UK gift works out at £7-54 each. Can't do much with that, just a token. Hope they get a lot more from their rich Pacific neighbours.

I'd stop all foreign aid except for natural disasters.

The more you send aid the more they'll depend on aid. Until you end up keeping them for ever.

Well get out there ebulGery and do your bit.

Take all your savings with you as well and distribute your cash freely.
Then they can eat you as well after they've spent all your money.

RED NOSE DAY is a cottage industry and a very cheap way for celebs to display
their generosity. some even get nice trips out of it, thus it will be with us
for ever.
