You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand.
We all need somebody to lean on imo.

PS Re your question, I have no idea.

I'm not sure but I think this song is in the Guinness book of records for the most times the title is sung in the lyrics and also the longest held single note.

A dj on the local radio offered 300 quid if anyone could answer the question correctly "how many times lovely day was mentioned in the song"within a half a hour, but nobody came up with the answer,
but he did not announce the correct answer.

I always try to sing along with the extended:

'daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy'

about a minute from the end, that goes under two sets of chorus'

Seems impossible to face, it can't be done.

On another note, the guy was just an ordinary factory worker with a few songs.
Just think of the annual royalty cheques he gets from
the daily worldwide, FM-friendly, radio plays of his trio of:

'Lovely Day', 'Lean On Me' and 'Ain't No Sunshine'

Morten Harket of A-ha infamy holds the record for the longest note, btw.

You might be correct Dan however I once car shared with a Woman who insisted on listening to the awful Heart FM on the radio. They played Halo by Beyonce ever half hour by my reckoning and she mentions the title 68 times!!!

Just tried it. Easy enough if you play it twice, the first time to count the short ones and the second one to count the long ones. More difficult if you try to count them all one on playing as they are being sung at the same time.

The short ones are sung in groups of 16,six times. The last of these are on the fade. I only heard 12 on the youtube clip but the fade out stops suddenly. If you had the original single, and turned the volume up at the end you might hear all 16.

There are ten long ones. 16x6=96+10=106

So my answer would be 106 but you're never going to get an answer everyone agrees on because of the fade out at the end.
