'Black Spot' could cover two guidlines in one hit (so to speak)
|
|
By:
Biggins was in the first version so they have sort of covered the gay role
|
|
By:
Walliams dancing around a maypole would have covered 3 or 4 ohers..

It's usually compulsory for BBC dramas set in the time before compulsory political correctness (e.g. 'WPC56' and 'Call The Midwife' amongst others) for some non-travelling Travellers to be unjustly accused of a plague of crimes. The offences normally involving the theft of car parts or worse, but I was amazed last night to learn that Poldark's part of Cornwall hadn't even experienced any cattle or livestock thefts which would involve deportation or hanging without due process.

OP. You would have complained in an equal but opposite manner if your missing ethnics had been present.
Thankfully, the BBC don't listen to the biased ramblings of the ChitChat corporate members. I think it is an excellent programme...and I haven't seen it yet! But, if it sends YOU apoplectic, it'll do for me. |
|
By:
Erm, as I said in the first paragraph, I enjoyed the programme.
Hope that helps. |
|
By:
It doesn't. In fact, it saddens me! (Mainly, of course, because I didn't see that bit...just the moaning bit!) Damn!

Trying to watch last night's Poldark on my recorder.
The picture keeps breaking up ![]() |

That'll be the holes imo.

Very worrying scenes indeed. We are 3 weeks into this Poldark remake and not a sign yet of any black/foreign characters or homosexualists. What sort of representation of late 18th century Cornwall is that? Were there no Diversity Officers waving foreigners through Passport Control?
Surely heads must now roll at the BBC. Anyone involved in green-lighting this series must now consider their position. They should be forced to watch "WPC56" to learn how it's done, a series set in the 1950s and full of racists, homophobes, honest ethnic minorities and corrupt sexist white male police officers. |
|
By:
they used a black horse, shirley that ticked a box
as for disabled, they could have used an actor with a real scar and not using a cornishman in lead role is a disgrace no ice cream, nor pasties spotted yet either and they do a great job of hiding the beaches as ross gallops backwards and forwards along the clifftops |

By:
much better than the original insipid series
top work by bbc |

don't worry situation is under control.
plan is for Dianne Abbott to make a cameo appearance as the leader of a diversity mob who will justly loot, burn and lynch their way through the sinful Cornwall countryside, teaching us that if only cornwall had not been so white it could have the multi-cultural glory of the likes of pre-european fiji, hindu india, and muslim pakistan, but not rolled into one obviously, as they don't get along very well. |
|
By:
the gay diversity mob will be burning, looting, and lynching in a separate rampage due to complaints from the diversity mob.
|
|
By:
if you watch the last episode carefully, in the village scene for the miners wedding there’s black-ish woman among the village women dancing around, so the bbc managed to sly one in LOL
Having read a lot of the books and seen a lot of the original series, the storyline seems to be on a kind of fast forward all the time. |

PAWRAS : You my friend are the guv'nor. I've just re-run the programme and can conform that is a FANTASTIC spot. I doff my cap to you. As Charles Hawtrey once said to Sophocles, "I salute your indefatigability Sir". (Or was it Sevvy Ballesteros, I dunno).
It just goes to show that late 18th century Cornwall was indeed a Harmonised Multicultural Paradise, everyone dancing together on the Village Green, a Progressive Nation of all colours and faiths working as one for the Greater Society before those nasty Thatcherites were elected 3 times in a row by a grateful British public. All we need now is an acceptance that there was a thriving and vibrant homosexualist scene amongst the Copper Miners and we can sign off on this drama, all boxes ticked. |

Thinly veiled propaganda exercise for 'Kernow' Nationalism if you ask me.
I spurn it as I would a rabid dog |

At least the Tory toff country set landowners are getting a real BBC drubbing, not to mention the aristocratic-leaning judiciary (featuring the original Poldark actor
). All vile people oppressing the local drunks and poachers.[Pity Demelza hasn't larger breasts ] |

Or in the interests of multiculturalism, workers from Europe will be allowed to come and work in the mines and undercut the wages of the locals, making the mine owners happy at the same time.
The black woman in the village was actually working as forward recon for those wanting to come from Africa. |
