16 years gone today... did anybody have a better voice than her?? For me she was amazing, the "Dusty In Memphis" album is just stunning!!

She was pretty special. Great voice but not sure I'd go as far as saying she was the best.
Only recently discovered that one of the male singers in The Springfields was her brother.

If you think that listen to Millie Jackson on youtube singing If Loving you is wrong and I'm gonna kiss you all over! Dusty was good and in later life was aided by the Pet Shop Boys.  Can't be compared to the best black female soul singers imho.

Debbie Dean was the first white solo artist for motown.   Have to disagree with you slicer , Millie jackson was not as good as Dusty imo and Millie's version of "If loving you is wrong" is not a patch on Luther INgram's.

Whether she was the best or not is debatable but what isn't imho is that she performed in the greatest ever decade for music, the 60s.
