Stopped watching it when Willie Carson got the gig.

Not what it was, and I always want to slap Matt Dawson, so haven't sat through a complete episode for years.
If it really is staged it's as ridiculous as H.I.G.N.F.Y. |

Saw 5 minutes recently , cringeworthy .
Must watch tv for sports fans back in the day ,should be put out of it's misery. |

Dawson killed it...useless!!!
Just not funny. Cringeworthy is the word! ![]() ![]() |

Been dreadful since they put Sue Barker in the chair (can't be a coincidence that SPOTY has become similarly unwatchable over the years she has been presenting).
QoS used to be an unmissable sports quiz, with top sports stars as guests, and most importantly the audience could play along at home. Now it's been morphed into an "entertainment" show where the majority of guests are anyone who works as a pundit for BBC Sport (Savage, Lawrenson, Jonathan Edwards, etc). The rounds used to be fun, like "what happened next?", but now they've got drivel like the captains acting out charades of sporting words. And you can't even play at home since they put the fkg words up on the screen. And now it's time for the observation round. Matt's team....what colour was the golfer's hat? FFS ![]() |

Haven't watched it regularly in years but stumbled across an episode recently and it was truly awful. The insufferable Dawson is bad enough but it's the general silliness and forced humour that truly ruined it.

Show should be scraped. Great in its day but long past its best. Just could not watch Dawson for longer than a minute. Sue Barker is terrible as well.

BBC should put on a proper sports quiz An eggheads style sports quiz - I'd watch that all day |
|
By:

It's got bugger all to do with a sports quiz anymore, Getting the captain to mime a forward pass? They might just as well ask him to mime a woman at an ironing board. It's been nowt but a parlour game for years. Time to get rid.

I would like a sports quiz on the lines of Mastermind.

|
By:
Agree with Cobblaz , its suffered in the name of "entertainment"
|
|
By:
Its morphed into 'They think its all over'.
Like others I haven't watched it for years but caught some of it a few months ago with the captains prancing around doing some nonsense thing. Not keen on Dawson or Tufnell. |

I can vaguely remember a very tough Sports Quiz on Radio 2 in the 70s called Brain of Sport or something similar. Think it was compered by Brion Butler. |

Do you remember back in 2008, they did a series of Sports Mastermind. Same format as the regular version; black chair, sports specialist subject followed by general sporting knowledge. Des Lynam was the host. As it happens, I won the first episode! Bizarrely, it didn't get me through to the final. They had 12 episodes with the top six winning scores making it through to the final. My score was 7th in the end; I had to wait for two months watching it slide down the leaderboard ![]() |

I remember Brain of Sport on the radio, now that was a tough quiz.
Questions like name the Stranraer line up in their 1948 Scottish Cup 1st Round tie against Montrose. And people would get them right!!! |
|
By:
Stranraer didn't play Montrose in the Scottish Cup in 1948. Sounds like the quiz was r1gged.
