Last week I got up in the night and went into an uncontrollable head spin and fell heavily.
Got partly up and smashed down again.
Crawled back into bed feeling nauseous and disorientated.
Found out later that I had smashed into a full height mirrored wardrobe and smashed two doors out of the top track.
Have been ok since until the same thing this morning where I managed to fall back onto the bed.
Needed to get up again, but as soon as I was sat on the edge of the bed, I was off again, and in the end had to crawl on my hands and knees to my bathroom.
When I finally got up I did so ever so slowly and took a route where there are things to hang onto.
Sitting here for an hour I was quite composed, until i went off looking for something, and was going all wobbly again.
Daughter had "Labrynthitis" on three occasions, but didn't do all the falling down stuff.

Actually, when I got back into bed I had something too much like "the whirling pit" of my teen years. |

I had Labrynthitis until I got banned from Hampden Court.

AP - yes I have had bouts of vertigo about 15 years ago
symptoms you describe sounds exactly like what I had - when it struck, I practically destroyed a shelf unit at work ( everyone thought I was paralitic drunk) and after being sent home from work I nearly fell under a tube train at Piccadilly Circus It is caused by infection in the inner ear and causes a permanent imbalance and dizzyness until treated get to the doctors asap as if left untreated can lead to a burst eardrum and believe me, you don't want that to happen |

3 weeks feeling like I was about 16 pints into a session, not as much fun as it sounds. There's a quick cure, but it doesn't work for everyone, your GP should be able to do it - it involves tipping you backwards quickly, realigns the crystals in your inner ear, which is a common cause. Didn't work for me. I went onto Cinarizine, which did the job, but slowly, took a couple of months before I was back to normal. You'll get used to the dizziness, it's the loss of hand-eye co-ordination that really does your head in, forever burning yourself on the kettle as you miss the handle etc etc |

Sounds like a ear infection...that is where our balance lies
I had an infection years ago.....Even when sitting in a chair I had to grab onto the sides I always felt like I was going to fall |

Had a decent sleep and up just once, very slowly and taking a route to hang onto things.
Just before getting up, on my back, and looking at the ceiling, I had the whirling pit. but not side to side, as was in my teens, but in a vertical direction. Daughter phoned the doctor, and came to mine yesterday to wait for a call back. Didn't get the call till 14:30 and was told she could prescribe some pills but best to wait a couple of days! Missed my chance for Gem to take me, and I'm certainly not driving, or paying for a taxi, so going to insist on a home visit. |

I wonder if the dizziness comes from the brain...as when we are drunk
I was never dizzy, I just had a permanent feeling of toppling over all the time, my ears did not know up from down I would get treatment if the pills do not work (mine was probably different) |

Gemma has had what was diagnosed as "Labrynthitis" three times, but she didn't do the falling down stuff, so there are obviously
different versions of the same thing! |
