I tried to get in to Breaking Bad but just couldn't manage to enjoy it enough to stick with it.
The Wire was very good, but fairly slow paced. |

Its well worth persevering with Breaking Bad. I didnt get it all when I first started watching it but it gets better. Season 4 and 5 some of the best TV ive ever seen
|

I thought season 1 was brilliant. And 2 and three too. And the fourth was very good. The first part of the fifth series was superb. The second part of the fifth series was totes amazeballs.

Have watched first 3 episodes of BCS a steady 6/10 but it has potential.

I don't watch much TV but I'm halfway through Series 3 of The Walking Dead which is brilliant.
I watched Series 1 of Breaking Bad, it's OK but I've been told it's slow to pick up and matures with age. A Chit Chatter put me on to the Kodi Player running the Genesis add on. I have it on a Windows 8 tablet and run it through an HDMI wire to my bedroom TV. Slightly dodgy but it gets me all these TV shows in decent quality. |

The Wire, Breaking Bad & The Killing are probably the best 3 tv shows i have seen recently.
Cant really be bothered with BCS as spin offs rarely work. |

Going to watch the wire. Anyone not seen breaking bad its superb. Just keeps getting better as you watch it.
|

One series i would recommend if anyone hasn't seen it is Underbelly season one and two.

Another program that I never see mentioned but thought was really good was "The Corner". Its very similar to the Wire and is also set in Baltimore but concentrates more on the drug side. Worth catching if you get the chance.

The Wire Series 5 - Plain Embarrassing
from wiki - The fifth season received universal acclaim from critics, scoring 89 out of 100 based on 24 reviews on Metacritic Cant win em'all ![]() |

Wow. Seriously, I thought it was a shocker. Nowhere near the standard of the others.
|
|

I like season 5. I thought season2 was the worst and everyone I speak to ranks its first or second
|
|

But can you get the wire for free anywhere on the interweb? Isnt on netflix, neither is sopranos.
|
|

See my message above Rob, it's available on Kodi via the Genesis add on.
Thanks to the Chit Chatter who put me onto this BTW, forget who it was ![]() |

That sounds very complicated, I only have an ipad
|
|
By:
OK unsure if you can use it for that.
For a PC it's pretty easy to install but does require a Google. |
|
By:
Try LosMovies Rob, it's on there.

That was me who put you onto genesis Oval. Superb aint it? Watched all the oscar films on it this week in preparation for tonight.
BCS has started fantastically. Has that BB vibe and the story looks solid. Has the potential to run for quite a long time. Bob Odenkirk is beyond superb at playing him. |

Thank you VERY much Treble, it's been most useful.
Mobdro is one for live sports on Android but is there a "genesis" equivilent? Boxsets are much better than when their aired. |

Theirs also a plugin for Kodi called sportsdevil. It often has sport on, although it can be temperamental.

Started watching the killing (US version) last night. Six episodes in and it's as good as anything I've ever seen on tv

^^^ I watched the first season and kind of enjoyed it, but I gave up after a few episodes of the second season.

I liked the Wire (season 2 I think) about the Docks and season 3 (I think) where it's about bringing down the Barksdale gang and has lots of Stringer Bell, Omar and a bit of Brother Mouzone best. I thought season 5 was the weakest too and am very surprised that Metacritic had it rated highest - perhaps because it was the last.
Someone on here also recommended Romanza Crininale which is an Italian, subtitled, gangster two-parter with about 8 episodes on each season, so not too much of a waste of time which I really enjoyed. Set in the eighties, it depicts the rise of small time punks who end up running the Rome mafia. A brutal but beautifully filmed series which is cool as fack and well worth a watch if you ever get the chance. Thanks to the person who recommended it as I would never have watched it otherwise and I thought it was up there with The Sopranos. |
|
By:
agree about Romanzo Criminale - especially the first series, the second one lost its way a bit, and you ended up wondering why they were so concerned with preserving the gang, cos they were suck a bunch of belllends.
For me, the third series of the Wire was the best, Stringer and Avon taking each other down was surprising, and although Marlo and Snoop were great characters with great prominence in Series 4 and 5, I agree Series 5 was a bit ridiculous with the fake serial killer storyline - detracted from the grit and reality of the earlier series |
|
By:
Cant remember what it was called but there was an Italian TV show about the rise of Mafia boss Salvatore Riina. That is well worth watching
Season 3 of the wire ![]() |
|
By:
Zazu, that was Corleone, which imo was ok, but Romanzo Criminale is much much better.
|
|
By:
Ill have to watch Romanzo Criminale after Ive finished the Killing
|

Another Italian series that I haven't yet seen but which got good reviews when shown on Sky is Gomorrah.
