No one desires bad things?
Difference between want and desire is the key IMHO

There were loads of musicians who disappeared up their own ar5es thinking they were making great music back in the 60's clay. My thought is lay off the weed brother. It's rotting your remaining brain cells.

There could a subtle difference here

1. Desire..could be something we would like but we do not need

ie. win the lottery

2. Want.......something we would also like, but we do need

ie. we may need to be doing something...verb

or something like food, water, home,  a basic something we do need...noun

best I can do

Buddhism said we should eliminate desire, give us peace of mind

probably does not include want, I am not sure though?

Perhaps the secret is to be able to tell the difference?

Yes. Ignorance also the key. Those who do desire bad things thought they were good, so in essence still didn't desire bad
