An elderly neighbour did her first online shop yesterday with the help of her daughter. When the goods arrived there was a note in the box that said 'No cabbage available, substitute sent.'
A while back, I ordered 2 minted lamb chops for £2.50. They ended up substituting it for 9 lamb chops which cost £9. Bonus!
This was Asda.

I once ordered parsnips but got carrots instead. I'd already ordered carrots! They must have thought "he likes his vegetables shaped like this, we'll send him some more".

I'm guessing that our "spastic" comment poster is too young to understand what he said, having only heard it's use as a derisory term!

A mate sent one of our other dim witted mates to the shop for 20 Benson and Hedges, he was told if they didn't have B&H get something else.... he came back with 2 Mars Bars and a can of coke

Friday I had a delivery from Tesco about 8.30am. 1pm the driver phoned and said “I’ve got your tray that was missing from your delivery”. I told him I thought I’d had everything and he read off what was in the box. I told him much as I like free stuff that he had in fact delivered all that this morning, it was all there, nothing was missing. He said “Well they send me out and tell me to deliver it, I’ve another delivery near you – do you want it?” So I said yes.
As he said, it was a blue box of stuff, rather than just a bag – a whole section on the receipt. I thought there must be 15 or 20 quid’s worth, but when I added it up it was £29.33 of food and stuff. Thanks very much!
I’ve no idea how they made that kind of c0ck up but they can keep making it if they want. Mind you, I've got 48 eggs to eat to get through.
The thing with substitutions is you can specify exactly what you want instead, or a range of options and even quantities - it doesn't make any sense to just select 'substitution' and then hope for the best that the packer's got any commonsense.
