I have a date set for March where we will go to the hospital and do an overnight sleep study. For the first time ever his trach will be covered over and we will see how he does breathing normally through the mouth while hooked up to all the monitors. Excited and nervous at the same time as he has had it for all but 3 months of his life and he is now 4 and a half. If all goes well he may be having the trach out by the summer

Thanks everyone! A correction to what I posted earlier. He has had the trach capped off in the daytime, but only for 30 minutes or so. A whole 'nother ball game at night - I'm quietly confident though.
treble - I may ask some more questions on the fontan as that gets closer if you don't mind. |
