besides the issue is far more about how americans cast british actors. danny dyer, despite being ****, is much harder to cast as the a rebooted khan or alan turing than cumberbatch.

i seem to remember reading somewhere that oldman only did the fifth element so he could afford to make Nil by Mouth.

working class actors will only be useful for villian roles though - so not a great actor in a versatile sense maybe .

Listening to Hoskins ,Caine ,Winstone etc would drive most folk up the wall  - that ugly old style cockney accent is an assault on the ears

Julie Walters comes from a very working class background. Her dad and mine were best mates. Julie's dad Tommy was a painter and decorator and mine a jobbing builder. I spent a lot of time at her house in Smethwick and believe me it was very basic which is probably why she always seems very down to earth these days.
