Ok.
Pubs and bars in Bham city centre are breathalysing people before they go in. Anyone more than twice the driving limit is not allowed inside in an attempt to prevent people pre-loading at home before going out. The move cuts down drunkeness and related violence. |
By:
Incredible. So the police are now colluding with private businesses to clamp down on a perfectly legal activity ("pre-loading" is more accurately referred to as "having a drink at home before going out") to increase the profits of said private businesses.
Outrageous. |
By:
Its aslo ridiculous as breathalysers only work after around 20 to 30 mins since last drink ... even one drink gives a sky high reading as you have alcohol around your mouth and gullet
By:
they're doing it in London according to one of their papers a few weeks ago
By:
Is this even legal, surely human rights issue innit?
By:
Will surely prevent the traditional crawl along Broad Street. Got to pick your pub and stick in it?
I can see it killing the pubs and it won't last long? A lot of the pubs and clubs don't get going till 11.00. |
By:
And, jesus, there are some pubs in Birmingham where you need a steadier before you walk through the doors!
By:
This is a nonsense. The drink/drive limit has nothing to do with drunkenness or violence. The law has long been that a landlord should not serve you if you are drunk.
By:
That's one of the reasons they're doing it because if everyone's drunk when they get there they should not be served more alcohol so it affects the takings.
By:
But they already DON'T serve drunks. That's the bit I don't get!
By:
The problem is the ratio of pub prices to drink at home prices just keeps getting larger?
I pub prices were more reasonable, people would go out earlier. |
By:
Alot of pubs i would need to be drunk to enter
