What type of dog?

Parachute, my Muttley has been in hospital for nearly a month at Fitzpatrick Referrals in Godalming. They said yesterday they are going to discharge him at the weekend. He fought back after being huge odds against but basically the staff there saved him. Really looking forward to having the critter back home. He loves a bit of steak as well and that's on the menu for sure.

I come clean here - there is no tradition of eating steak once a year on the first Wednesday of February here.
Just doing it for love.
He is a smallish dog, brown and black fur, dunno breed. Amazing personality.

Doing the same para, my kid is having a new kitchen fitted so got the retired greyhound for 3 weeks. Eats,sleeps and walks,very rarely barks but luvs tuna fish or mackerel on the dinner plate.

Dog sitting was great. He was a perfect houseguest and a crazy companion in the park.(We had snow too!)
I had the best time.
Made me feel ten years younger (and more adored then I can ever remember).
Dogs are truly a gift from God.

24 hours of dog company and now I'm addicted again !

If you buy a dog parachute make sure you get him insured. My vet bill is not far off 10 grand which was just about covered for 30 quid a month.

Slippy - how is Muttley?

He is back home and happy enough but is still really wobbly walking about. We had a stroll at half time during the rugby and I had to use a harness to support his stomach and back legs but he was really trying to race around like he used to so have to think that is good news. He saw a fox which we have loads of near me and he started barking his head off, good signs so far but still very early days. He did his ablutions and is crashed out down stairs right now.

I think the Muttster will be fine with your care.. (was he supporting England or wales at half time?)

I thought he's support Barking FC.

Quite correct HH, Ian Wright no less played for Dulwich Hamlet and then went onto to play for the mighty Crystal Palace.

Great news about Muttley Slippy.It certainly pulls your guts out when you think you're going to lose them,I know only too well what you've been through this last month.Like yourself I had my own greyhounds & I never put one down because they couldn't run or were lame.Kept them till the end.At the moment we have three terriers.One an absolute sod,will go for anything or anybody,another hated blokes when we got her but alright now.The third is as placid as they come but surprising the boss when they start.All rescue dogs which had problems being rehomed so we took them but it's surprising what a bit of patience does.They are all born with no vices so it makes you wonder what idiots have had them in the past & how they've treated them.

Yes, fantastic news. I don't know if you know but I'm a cat man, but I love all animals and it distresses me to think of any being injured or mis-treated. I didn't like to look at the fight that's been in a lot of the papers just recently between the croc and the elephant.

Very well done on ensuring Muttley should hopefully have a long and happy future, Slippy.

Muttley is in good form tonight and is by the fire in front of me right now, both of us waiting for Match Of The Day to start. Palace won away to Leicester today, a priceless three points for the mighty Eagles. Happy days

Funnily enough Park Avenue and Palace both had identical sized programmes, the smallest in the league. About 4.5 inches square.

So it was, what a coincidence! Palace must be safe now to stay up I would have thought, we have Liverpool at home in the last 16 of the FA Cup next Saturday. Tough game but not completely beyond the realms of possibility that we can qualify. Bradford at home to Sunderland on Sunday, again another difficult match for the home team. Lets hope we both get through eh.

Bradford City have a home match on Monday which is on TV. Let's hope we can make the pitch even worse than it is before Sunday, although we have a dreadful home record, but a first class one away.

I was feeling old after talking about that 1959 match, but Brian Kidd has just cheered me up. Just seen him looking as youthful as ever as Man City assistant mgr and we were born in the same year. Fine striker in his day.

Brian Kidd was indeed a very good player and yes he has worn extremely well.

I've never really played football kenny but if he did that to me in a game of rugby he'd have got a good trampling at the next maul. He must be made to account for himself for that behaviour, completely ridiculous.

I remember you posting on my mouse thread some years ago.

We have been looking after a puppy occasionally lately ... Lagotto Romagnolo ... very friendly
highly intelligent with a particular marked sense of humour.

The Lagotto Romagnolo has remained unchanged since Etruscan times (5th Century BC) to hunt and retrieve waterfowl in the once Venetian/Romanian marshlands of northern Italy. In mid 19th century when the marshlands were drained the Lagotto was used for their acute scenting ability to search for highly prized truffles. The Lagotto is unique in being the only purebred dog in the world officially recognised as a truffle dog.

The woolly, curly, double coat has made the Lagotto supreme in water as well as on land.

It would be just as much fun if it was a mongrel !

And it'll still make a mess on the carpet.
