She never did it for me as Miss Marple, but no doubt an accomplished actress. Margaret Rutherford was the daddy in that role.

RIP

Bit harsh to judge her on Miss Marple, good as she was, given everything else she did. Always been a heroine of mine since she turned down her DBE.   Seriously good actress.

True, blackburn, she didn't have the Miss Marple role long,so that was a small percentage of her work.

I loved her in Marple, I thought she did a good job

I do remember liking Margaret Rutherford, but to be fair that was played more for comedy

I remember hating the BBC Miss Marple she was horribleAngry with a feminist undertone...I do not like those sort of women

Marple has had considerably more money spent it, evocative of a lost age, and I think both Marples are much truer to what
Agatha Christy created.....incredibly intelligent, observant, an incredible intuition for human psychology...
yet compassionate.....a women one can admire for such an incredible mind

Only Ebulgery could resort to a "feminist undertone" on a thread such as thisCrazyCrazy.  By the way, and for the avoidance of doubt, which two of the five? Miss Marples are true to what Agatha Christie meant.

I should have stuck to saying I liked her portrayal of Miss Marple.
I am aware Julia McKenzie has taken over who I also like, they play Miss Marple the same way
