Interesting Eurogroup meeting tomorrow, Krugman thinks its Grexit time & also Jackboot time! Shocked

This looks to me like an attempt to force Greece out of the euro, right now. German policy is objectively pro-Grexit. It’s also, given the likely fallout, objectively pro-Golden Dawn

Why the hell shouldn't Greece have to pay their debts like every other person has to?  Ye Gods, Britain only finished paying off the WW2 debt to America in 2006 or so, a mere 60 years after that conflict ended. Greece could do the same.

I just watched a quite ridiculous piece on the lefty pretendy news programme 'Newsnight' along the lines of "Boo hoo hoo those nasty sensible German people won't sign up to some deal that helps Greece avoid their responsibilities. Boo hoo hoo, still, we'd better peddle the line that silly old Germany clawed defeat from the jaws of victory. Boo hoo hoo, why can't the rest of Europe have a daft new Lefty government like these poets of men in Greece?".

Greece has any number of terrific historical assets and islands which could be sold off or transferred to their creditors, just as a normal person sometimes has to sell their posh car to pay a self-incurred debt. Surely every single person of Betfair has at one time sold their Bentley to have enough money to re-deposit on here and get stuck into the Cluedo markets in the Arcade. Right?

My vespa scooter has been on the brink a few times but a wee rumble down the back of the sofa has saved it.

Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou reacts to suggestions Greece should have a wee rumble down the back of the sofa.

The Greeks are real dumb. Threats are not likely to encourage Germany to be lenient with them. This sort of nonsense could see Greece a pariah state with borders totally closed off to everyone.

that was the far right which isnt a suprise as the far right did have links to middle eastern terrorists pre iraq and there were suggestions that some of those links were resurfacing not too long ago

Its the Govts defence and foreign ministers so hardly matters what party they are. Whats remarkable is they are so idiotic that they believe its a realistic threat. The ordinary Greeks need to get rid of these people quickly before it ends very very badly for them.

Pity "The Greeks" lost their biggest, no, make that "most enormous asset" in January this year.

Demis Roussos, aka "The Bleating Bell Tent" lost to the world on 25th January 2015.

it was the greeks far right wing so it does matter.
the leader is left wing.

the greeks should hold out imo as the germans should pay for their crimes.......the gerries should be dictating to NO ONE after what they did.

It is two Government ministers making ludicrous statements end of.  Let the Greeks hold out its only them it will hurt. Distant history has no relevance to the modern day either thats just plain silly.

Once we take all these interests into account and where they converge, the strategy of Greece’s European partners is pretty clear: It’s all about regime change. One senior Greek official involved in the negotiations referred to it as a “slow-motion coup d’état.” And those who were paying attention could see this from the beginning. Just 10 days after Syriza was elected, as I noted previously, the European Central Bank cut off its main line of credit to Greece and then capped the amount that Greek banks could lend to the government. All the hype and brinkmanship destabilize the economy, and some of this is an intentional effect of European authorities’ statements and threats. But the direct sabotage of the Greek economy is most important, and it is remarkable that it has gotten so little attention.
