Seriously, I never have a hangover.

Strange really, when remembering "The Whirling Pit", and associated nausea that went with it!

I don't do this with any conscious reasoning, but always have water at the bedside in a chrome "Thermos" jug,
which is always drunk during the night.

I can't just remember which of "The Rat Pack" it was that said he was sorry for people who don't drink, because when they get up
it was the best they will feel for the entire day!

Dean Martin I think.

never had one until I hit 21. My old man never has them but I suppose that's because of the years of training at the brewery.

I'm in my 50's, I'd had enough of hangovers by my late 20's, the pleasure just isn't worth the pain.

1 day on the sauce = 2 days to recover

hangovers becoming more brutal as the years go by

anxiety, depression with some major bouts of THE FEAR

I read somewhere that your fitness determines the severity and recovery rate of your hangover, that must be why mine takes a fortnight to get over.

I'm 49 and I find my liquid prescription is the best tonic to stave off the gloom - no hangovers drinking spirits is a huge bonus for me though 4/5/6 pints is well enough as any more and I can feel it the next day...I felt like shít last Saturday for no reason other than 9 pints the night before which was well over my limit - that was a rarity for me and I'm planing on avoiding that tomorrow night.

It was strange to feel 'down' without anything particularly distressing having occurred and there's more than a grain of truth in this thread.

PS - when I drink real ale in the boozer (if it's available) it's treats me a lot better than the normal gassy balls that's probably laced with all kinds of shíte.

Never appreciated how fortunate I am not to suffer any effect from the drink until I stayed over at a party one night and saw the suffering of others the next morning, an episode that has been repeated regularly since marrying, though not sure if it is the hangover that is bad or it is just an excuse for the wife to have a lazy day...!

How old are you Pug Confused

I used to drink like you & Bhoys but then realized it's not the booze that makes you depressed , you drink because you're depressed & then becomes a vicious circle where it's the only thing that cheers you up a bit , drinking so much is v dangerous & addictive long term

brandy very nice drink

i think just even limiting it to maybe once a week at home is quite reasonable then having a night out with mates once a month would be a good balance

as much as I love a night out I've always enjoyed drinking & smoking by myself , maybe just my depressive nature but isn't fun to do it all the time & just leads back to depression again Blush

In the end it will kill you prematurely.  You just have to calculate will the joys of the longer sober life exceed the thrills/spills/pain of the shorter drinking life.  I think I know the answer but the body has a mind of its own.  Oh no I don't.  Oh yes you do.  Come outside and say that.  See you, Jimmy ...
