Rob, you are my hero, I can't stand the money grubbing tw@t, I remember him crying at the fact Michael Jackson had ownership of the Beatles music rights, while conviently forgetting he owned the rights to all Buddy Hollys work.

Sica Dan, I don't buy newspapers, but I would not measure a papers excellence by the amount of copies it sells, certainly not in this befuddled dumbed-down country that glorifies vacuous "celebrity" to the witless many.
Maybe it needs a page 3. ![]() ![]() |

A superbly written article in the consistently excellent Guardian newspaper
you are just commentating on the Arts section and not the whole paper? |

If anything McCartney is severly underrated in this country.

People (especially you, rob) so often trying to shoot down one of the most talented songwriters of all time.
Strange. True, he knocked out some dross, but given the volume of output this isn't a surprise. Macca might not be a nice bloke, I don't know. He might be mean or greedy, I don't know. What is for sure is that he probably wrote/performed more classic songs (whether you like them or not) than any other living artist. He certainly isn't the only 'celeb' or musician, to make money where he can. As for it being a good article..... Way before Kanye and Rihanna catapulted McCartney to worldwide attention, he was collaborating with all kinds of lo-fi figures in an increasingly desperate attempt to make it. I don't think so! And anyone who could write that line hasn't a clue. |

I agree with poppydog.

Study his song-writing greatness is indisputable. Just wouldn't want to buy him a pint, because he facking wouldn't pay for one.
enough said. One of the all time greats.![]() |

You are all wrong, Paul McCartney died in 1966 in a car crash.
It's his imposter that's the money grabbing overrated pile of steaming horse manure. |

A lucky (and talented) man who made the grade. People in the future will look back and think, my gosh what a golden era that post war generation was.

mccartney was dried up after the age of 40, before the age of 40 he was the best there was and the best there ever will be imo.
|
|
By:
No way pedro. Wasn't even the best in the Beatles ffs.
|
|
By:
The story goes that McCartney was asked what it was like to be the world's greatest living songwriter and he replied, 'You would need to ask Neil Finn'.
|
|
By:
Bob Dylan once said 'there are many great songwriters but McCartney he is the one, comes so damm easy to him'.
|
|
By:
Lennon & Macca were the artists of the 20th century even if you take 50% of their body of work away.
|

Bob Dylan always had a great sense of humour.

hard days night is a title in the form of a contradiction.....
A bit like ´working like a dog´....being that dogs are very lazy animals with the exception of hunting dogs. This is another form of contradiction within the lyrics....HTH. |

Had a run-in with him one day - at a public library of all places, seems silly now.
