What a joke this program is. If that's what they think Borstal was like years ago, they are sorely mistaken. Breaking up fights by speaking gently to the fellas and asking them to calm themselves down. My dad was in their in the early 60's. He just said you were much more likely to get a truncheon round the back of the legs and dragged back to your cell.

not watched it but a mate of mine told me all about it and how tough it was especially "bunny hops". He had a bit of a drink problem when he was younger and he just loved to fight the police, this was also in the 60's. He and one of his mates got legless one night and decided to fight the plod, and they battered about 8 of them. He knew he was going to borstal as he'd been before, but this was the first time his mate had been in trouble and he was told to expect a big fine, and probation. His mate also ended up getting 6 months borstal, it totally cracked him up and he has never been released as he kept attacking prison officers and he also killed one.

Sounds like he is still where he belongs then b-b ? My sympathies lie with the family of that Liverpool copper killed on a night out just before xmas.Borstal was effective with many of the hard cases who were bullies but I reckon capital punishment is the only answer to some with chips on their shoulder.

treetop, i as well as you have sympathy for the liverpool policeman killed in that fight.

having said that a group of off duty police officers drinking on their own patch in the early hours of the morning is not the

cleverest thing to do imo.
